Re: Do you have hashimotos? Pls don't move

I'm a member of a FB group for essential oils. Someone literally just posted about how they have hashimotos and how this one oil helped to lower and stabilize her antibodies. I can check for the name later if you want?

I hope you feel better. Chat Icon

So funny you mention this. My friends friend sells them too. Last night my friend and I were talking abt this and we found an "oil" but it's actually a pill with bouvine thyroid and I was like um I need my blood results and dr discussions before I self medicate like that. If it was an oil I would use no prob.

But YES please I would love the oil!

I would also check out the paleo diet for thyroid disorders. There is a book called practical paleo and they have regimens in it for all types of disorders. I follow that diet mostly and am symptom free.

That's awesome! I've been doing some reading and it seems some people have put theirs into a state of unmedicated remission. I would lovvvve to do that too.

I am reading Synthroid kills the thyroid off faster, so eventually I will have a dead thyroid? I went for blood today so hoping for some answers soon. I need to look into paleo, I know some people that follow it, but I know they all eat meat.

Chat Icon I was just diagnosed a few months ago and I've been taking the lowest dose of synthyroid. That's so scary if its true that it kills the thyroid faster! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

So far my doctor still hasn't found the right dosage for me and I've had to get my blood checked every month so far. Overall I've felt better with the medicine, I would say. Except for the first month bc my dose was too high and that made me feel worse than I did without the medication. Before I was diagnosed though I would have insomnia and anxiety at night like you described. My heart would always be racing, and I knew that couldn't be normal but I had no idea that there could be an actual medical reason causing it. Since I've been on the medication I've been sleeping better. But now I feel I must do more research into it. I definitely don't want to take anything that will end up killing my thyroid! Then what?

I will look into paleo also. That sounds interesting.

Thank you for starting this thread. I've learned a lot from it. I hope you feel better soon.

I am sorry you got diagnosed too. Definitely do as much research as possible. I wish I did sooner.

Keep in mind you have an autoimmune disease that is attacking your thyroid bc it sees it as a foreigner. So the thought process is to treat/stabilize the autoimmune disease and in turn it will lay off the thyroid. A lot of doctors treat the thyroid only. I know for all autoimmune diseases going gluten free is recommended bc wheat inflames the body, and wheat that we eat is sooo processed and not like wheat from the 1800s.

Definitely it's trial and error with everyone. What works for one may not for another. Good luck.

Hashimotos can come and go. That's how it was explained to me

Did you have your vitamin D checked ?

And I late to the game but you're on thyroid meds? Maybe if you go off of them you will feel better? I felt better getting off synthroid

And if you need a new endo. I have the best guy. He doesn't let things go and stays on top of things. He's called me at nights to discuss stuff. He's wonderful.

And sorry can't edit my post - but wanted to add I'm sorry. I've been thru hell and back with my thyroid. I only have half of it now. It's such an annoying organ when it's not working properly and even when it is, and you feel like shit and the numbers look good. It's a mysterious organ in that sense. I do believe in treating the symptoms not the numbers.

Yes 50mg of Synthroid.

I am trying to get a full blood work panel done. But dr has to see me first and doesn't have an appt till late oct. So I said screw it. My gp will give me script. So annoying.

Vitamin D was checked a few years ago and was a 19. I take 1k a day. I feel leary abt vit d. It's a hormone and I worry in a few years it'll be an issues for some people who take too much. So I don't want to go crazy w it until I know my levels.

And I am starting to think I want to go off Synthroid! Please don't anyone think I would take myself off. But under dr supervision I would like that to be my goal.

Yes I'd like to know who your guy is! I blow through endos like it's my job bc I hate the approach and the relaxed attitude they take towards a disease that's making me feel like my heart is abt to stop and I am dying!

Yes several Sonos. First nodal grew during pregnancy and as of may 8 other tiny ones! All too small to biopsy and the sono tech, nurse, and doctors all act like they're paper cuts!

Sometimes I get a feeling in my throat like it's constricting and fear they're growing. One endo said she could feel one and my new endo says he can't feel.

The anti thyroid antibodies test will take a little longer to come back than the other thyroid tests. ( tsh, t3, t4,etc.). The blood must be frozen by them and sent separately. The results will take a little longer to come back. Also, the thyroid antibodies number could change from one test to another. Unfortunately for me, my anti thyroid antibodies were always over 1000 when normal levels are usually under 35. Your tsh is great. Good luck with everything.

So my numbers were off as well. The thing i found is that the drs dont jump to treating when your tsh is normal. Sometimes thats good bc once you go on meds you dont come off. Try the diet apptoach. You will undoubtedly see a difference and its better than having to go on meds
