Temping questions

Where did you get your thermometer, and is there a brand that's better?

While temping, what indicates you've ovulated? Or when you're about to?

Temping questions

I got my thermometer on amazon. Just searched basal thermometer and picked a best seller with high ratings. The directions actually gave directions for how to track your temps for ovulation.

I just used the free version of ff to input my temps. Once you see a rise in temps (about .5 degree) that means you have ovulated. There's no indication before from temping so it's still best to use opks.

I only did it for a few months. The very first month everything was by the book, my temps were consistent, my rise was huge, and I got a bfp but it ended in a chemical. The next month or two I found it harder to tell for sure when I ovulated, maybe bc I didn't take it the same time every day. I ended up giving up since I found the opks gave info enough for me. Definitely check ff, they have info about how to temp too.

Target

I put my temps in Fertility Friend and let that do all the work. I used it to confirm O and used the CBEFM to predict O.

Re: Temping questions

I got my thermometer at target , I think its there Brand. the point of temping is not really to see when you ovulate but that you ovulated.

OPK's will tell you when you get an LH surge , so you will be ovulating within the next 12-24 hours.
If you keep track of your temps you will see the day you ovulate there will be a slight dip temp and then will rise by .5 + , you have definitely ovulated once you have 3 higher temps in a row.

I agree with using Fertility friend it's the best tracker and once you have the 3 higher temps it will draw a cover line on your chart and tell you the day you ovulated and how many dpo you are.

Re: Temping questions

I used the CVS brand and it worked just fine for me. I also charted using the free FF app. First month of temping did the trick for me -- I had been so off on previous months about when I actually ovulated!!

Re: Temping questions

Thx, I've been using opk's for about 8months. I want to use both to see if I've been off at all.
