do i buy this stuff for DS?

DD hated to be swaddled so we never used the swaddle mes we bought and ended up returning the sleep sack things. Do I buy them for DS or can i just swaddle with blankets for the beginning?

I dont recall DD really being into her mobile - but that could be that she just didnt' spend much time in the crib in the beginnig...do i buy one for DS or do I wait?

DS1 despised being swaddled but we used sleep sacks for him until he could walk and even beyond that (the ones with holes for the feet) as a blanket to keep him warm in the summer with the AC on and in the winter.

DS2 is 5 months old and sleeps in his swing so I have been covering him with a blanket. He wasn't much of a swaddle fan either - though he liked it more than #1. When he finally moves to his crib, I will use sleep sacks on him too. They're not constricting like a swaddle. Plenty of room inside to wiggle around but still stay warm / covered.

Mobiles are a waste, I feel like when my kids were tiny, they kept them awake because they wanted to look at them in awe... then they get too big and can stand and pull them down!

We always swaddled in blankets. The A&A ones are great bc they're nice and big so it makes it easy to do. We switched to sleepsacks after after a month or two.

Never used a mobile or saw the need.

all babies are different, so i would go and get one swaddle me and see how DS likes it.
I would also say the same about the mobile

DD loved being swaddled and loved her mobile....at 13 months she still will go in her crib for some down time if i put the mobile on. for me, its a lifesaver..she runs around the apartment and if DH isnt home and i need to shower, i know i can put her in the crib with the mobile and get 20 minutes to myself knowing she cant get into trouble. she knows how to press the buttons to change the music and everything.

we have this one
tiny love sooth n groove
i have #2 coming in may, and think i will need to go buy another mobile bc i just cant take it away from DD

ITA. All babies are different, so I'd try it all.

I didn't think DS liked to be swaddled either, but once I did it tighter, so he couldn't escape, he started sleeping so much better.

As for the mobile, DS is 14 months old and I still put his music on for naps. He loves music and the one we have plays classical music so I think it relaxes him.

we already have this from DD that we'd reuse for DS so i think this fills the crib soothing music and entertainment category

We swaddled DS for about 2 months, from maybe 2.5-4.5 months? Loved it, worked great to get him to sleep in the crib and for nap. Once he got too big, I was nervous he wouldn't sleep as well, but he sleeps great without the swaddle.

Got him a cheap mobile and he loves it. Every morning when he wakes up, I pick him up and we say good morning to his friends, and he grabs at them. Love how it makes him smile.

As for music, I loved the Sleep Sheep, but because I like it on all night for him, the batteries die super quick. I had a cute decorative radio in his room that plugs in, and just tuned it to white noise so it's on all night.

never swaddled and i'm very happy that i have a mobile…although she didn't sleep in her crib until 5.5 months, i would put her in there with the mobile on starting at around 2.5 months to get her used to her crib…as a nice place to be. when she now wakes up she stares at it and it's something that she knows. during the day when we are in her room we put it on with the music and same as kitten1929 , we named the animals -her "friends" and she tries to grab at them when i hold her or let her sit while i hold her on the side of the crib. she laughs and smiles - so for us it was worth it.
