Refusing milk

DD is 14 months, previously dx with a milk allergy, but all tests came back negative after re-introduction a few months ago.

She LOVES dairy (cheese, yogurt), but has been flat-out refusing regular milk the last few weeks. I've tried warming it, mixing it with flavoring, trying coconut and soy milk, even yogurt smoothie.

I've tried in bottle, straw cup, even just "drinking" from a real glass (her favorite thing to do). She vehemently pushes away everything but water.

Any ideas? And should I call my dr. now about this, or just wait another month til the next check-up?

Re: Refusing milk

We had done the whole weaning thing, and she was finally on 100% milk for about a month before her refusals started.

She never drank a lot of formula - 5 or 6 oz. in a feeding TOPS on a good day!

As long as she is getting proteins & calcium from other sources I dont see an issue & ask your Dr. @ next visit. I wouldn't stress over it & you never know she may come around when you back off..

Both my kids stopped drinking milk at 12 months because I took the bottle away. They haven't drank it since, and they are 3 and 1 1/2 years old. They get dairy else where so the doctor said that was completely fine!

Do/did you give them anything before bedtime to stave off hunger during the night?

They just drank water from straw sippy cup. They really didn't need the milk the hold them over since they would eat solids before bed. hth
(both of my kids had a milk protein allergy up until 12 months as well)

Re: Refusing milk

How about almond milk? Maybe she doesn't need to drink milk if she's getting calcium and other vitamins from other foods.
