Anyone buy meat from a butcher?
So disappointed in the meat quality at my local supermarket / Peapod. No matter how much I season or marinade, the meat is just so meh. I know going to a butcher is more expensive but is it better quality?

Anyone buy meat from a butcher?
We buy a lot of our meat from the butcher and the quality is far superior to the local supermarket. It is a little more expensive but not crazy expensive. If you are near Stew Leonard's they have good meat and run weekly specials--same goes for Fairway.

go to fairway if you can. their quality is superb. i dont find them expensive, especially when on sale. filet mignon is 5.99/lb now and they custom cut for you/trim all the fat. best steak ive made at home

Yes! I love Fairway's meat. They have a lot of organic stuff too if that's important to you.
Their fish and seafood are also incredible

Good to know re: Fairway's meat - I'll have to give that a shot.
We've bought meat from the butcher, things like lamb and steaks and they always come out really really delicious.

We buy the freezer fillers from our local butcher- Cow Palace. DH will not eat meat from the supermarket.

Yes, we only buy meat from Iavarone's. It tastes so much better than meat from the supermarket.

For weekly grocery shopping, I buy from the regular grocery store. It's just quicker and easier, and fine for us. I am usually not buying higher end or specialty cuts of meat for our weekday meals.
If I am entertaining, especially in the summer when I do a lot of grilling/bbqs, then I go to a specialty store or higher end grocery store, such as Iavarone's, Uncle Giuseppe's, or Fairway. Or I go to a butcher - usually, The Meat Grinder in Wantagh!

we got this this weekend was awesome.
I also go to my local butcher/Italian specialty market for meats, cheeses etc.
I sometimes buy perdue chicken or ground beef from the supermarket.

I am a pork snob and will only buy Smithfield brand.
Can't get it at Fairway, but I can get it at Waldbaums. I buy other meats either there or at Fairway, whatever is on sale.
I rarely go to a butcher anymore, hardly any that are not geared towards an ethnic group.

I don't cook often but when I buy meat i only get it from a butcher including chicken.
The meat and poultry at waldbaums is pretty gross and I would never serve it. The perdue chicken is usually a Hot yellow color, when i get chicken from the butcher its bell and evans and its white in color.
The butcher i got to is primavera italian specialties in massapequa. they are excellent with a huge variety of prepared foods as well.

We buy steak, specialty chicken burgers, and chicken meatloaf from the butcher. I am happy with the quality.
Stew meat I usually purchase from Whole Foods.

We exclusively shop for meat at Cow Palace. BF will not eat any meat from a supermarket. I find it to be cheaper than the supermarket, actually. When we first started dating I shopped in the supermarket. And, I swore you couldn't tell the difference. Now, I know there is a difference. The meat is better quality. It's an extra trip when I'm shopping, but our meals are tastier.
