Maternit21 - how early?

I have an appointment for bloodwork and another sono tomorrow - I'll be 9w5d. If the Maternit21 is available and covered by insurance, is it too early to have it done?

What are the criteria to have it covered? I'm 35, second pregnancy.

They did mine after the first screening test came back with a possibility for downs syndrome. This was around 20 weeks. I would ask your dr to be sure if they think it is necessary/covered.

I'm 35 and my doctor had me come in at 11.5w for the blood draw. I've read that it can be done as early as 9w.

I had it done at 11.5 weeks. The genetic counselor I saw said it can be done as early as 10 weeks.

I've read 10 weeks. I'd probably wait a week more in case my EDD was off.

Marernit21 - how early?

10 weeks is the earliest that it is done- Not all insurance companies cover the test- There is no standard criteria that will get it covered if your insurance company does not cover it. It is still considered an elective test by many OB's. The older and less expensive first trimester screen is what most insurance companies cover--the argument some insurance companies make is both the maternit21 test and the first trimester screen are screening test for the same diseases--Neither test is considered diagnostic.
