Finally having contractions - UPDATE: I had my baby!
41 weeks today. I lost my plug, or at least part of it, last night and woke up with contractions at 3:30. They are still irregular. They started at 7 mins apart but then went anywhere from 6-11 mins. I'm waiting for them to get more regular. I sent DH to work because I wasn't sure what to do. He will take a week off when baby is born but it's not very easy for him to do so, so I figured better for him to bang out some work while he can. I gather this could take a while.
UPDATE: I had my baby girl  that night, Gemma Elizabeth, 8.9lbs, 21 1/2". I was team  and swore it was a boy. Now I have two girls! I'm so excited to give my DD1 a sister.
The morning of my contractions, I called the service and got a doctor from a nearby practice. She told me to go to hospital when they were btwn 5-8 minutes consistently for at least 30 minutes. They were mostly 7 at that point but then they went off from there--varying between 6 and 14 minutes. I was getting frustrated. They were uncomfortable but manageable. I had my bloody show at 6:30 am. Around 11, I noticed I was still bleeding. The contractions were about 10 mins apart but getting more intense. I called my office and they told me to come in to get checked. At 12-1 pm, they hooked me up to the monitor. They were about 8 minutes apart and felt strong, but I was only 3 cm. The doctor told me to go home for a little bit and told me I'd probably be ready for the hospital around 5 pm. Well, I'm not sure if it was the exam, but as soon as we left, they were 5 minutes apart and really intense. We went to the hospital at 3 pm and I was already 6 cm. I got the epidural within an hour and felt great after that. I started to feel the pressure and urge to push not long after and when I checked around 6-something pm, I was fully dilated. I had to wait a little while though because the doctor from practice was doing a c-section. When they were finally ready for me to push, I pushed through 3-4 contractions and she was out. DD1 only took 20 minutes of pushing. This one was definitely less. It was pretty amazing. The doctor made it in for the last contraction and the baby was out.
