Did anyone not have a pack n play?

I have the baby born travel crib for when we are away for a crib.

Do I really need a pnp for the house? I feel like once dd starts crawling she won't want to be contained.

Mine has always been left at my parents' house unless we are travelling. Never used it at our house except during hurricane sandy when we wanted DD in our room over night. Then again, DD never crawled so she was easy to contain!

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

There really are few baby things you NEED - that being said, many were created to make your life easier.

Here's how we use ours:
- as a bed/bassinet up until about 4 months. She would not sleep in her crib

-as a safe place to put her while me/DH get ready in the morning. I leave early for work and he is alone with getting her out of the house. If she is awake, she goes in there while he dresses, etc. Now that she is crawling/walking it can be dangerous to take your eye off her for a second

-When I was on mat leave, or home alone, it is a safe place to put her to do something quick, like use the bathroom

-As a travel bed when going to grandmas

I'm really happy with mine, but I got a fairly inexpensive one without all the bells and whistles.

Did anyone not have a pack n play?

I have a Graco travel pack n play and yes I've used it countless times. This was basically a travel crib, no bells and whistles at all. I didn't find myself to miss the add on attachments at all. I used it mostly to contain CD if I wanted to shower or do laundry (I n basement).
Looking back I could have also used the crib to contain him.
I don't see it as a necessity at all. The travel crib you have is fine.

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

We use the pack n play in our house for naps. We live in a split ranch and have the pack n play in our living room. When he is home and falls asleep we put him in there instead of upstairs in his room.

Other than that I do not use it in the house.

We used it as a changing station and for travelling - never as a playpen. I felt it was too small and neither boy really loved it.

Our PnP stays at my parents house. It's where DS sleeps when he's there. We would never use it at home since he has a crib here.

Did anyone not have a pack n play?

I never registered for a PnP because I didn't see the need. I had a swing, bassinet, crib, bounce seat.

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

i never used a pnp in my own house
but we have one that we use whenever we go places bc dd needs to nap

im assuming the travel crib serves the same purpose as the pnp - if so, there is no need for a pnp too.

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

I used the diaper changing attachment a lot for the the first 8 or 9 months.

I've used it as a safe place to contain her if I'm home alone and have to run to the bathroom or to throw in a load of laundry.

I bring it with me if we're going to someone's house for the day and I'll need a place for her to nap.

But I'd say I only really NEED it when we're out and I need a place for her to sleep, so I assume the travel crib serves that purpose.

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

if you plan on traveling a lot or if you plan on having the baby nap someplace else other than your house, i think its worth it

we've been traveling with my son since he was 3 months old so we have gotten A LOT of use out of the pack and play!

also, wanted to add that the pack and play was the ONLY place my son would nap for a good few months (9months till about a year old) we went through a rough napping phase & i dont know what i would have done without it!! i feel like you never know what may work for your baby so in my opinion i would register for it... its easy enough to pack it up & keep it in a closet if need be

Did anyone not have a pack n play?

we keep ours in the finished basement so when we're hanging out downstairs she has someplace to play/nap. It also has a changing pad so we don't have to bring her all the way upstairs to change her. DD is only 4 mos old, but already we've used it alot.

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

My parents have one for their house. We do not have one.

She sleeps in her crib (bassinet or rnp before that)

If we need to contain her for a little bit, we stick her in her high chair with toys or Cheerios or we put her in her exersaucer.

I never used mine and returned it. DD slept in the travel crib at night and the RNP during the day. I always changed her in her room on her changing table. When she was on the move I bought the little play zone with an extension which was great. She had a lot of room to play.

Did anyone not have a pack n play?

We used our pack and play 2 times...and that is when we went on vacation. It stays at my parents house...and they don't even really use it. They use a different one that was given to us from friends.

I only use it for one of my twins to nap but they NEVER play in it, EVER. If I only had one, I would have no need for a PnP.

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

Had one, never used it for my own kids. It was in the box sealed until DS1 was 2+ when I used it to babysit for a friend.

I think we MIGHT have used it 1x at Christmas Eve at ILs with DS2

We used ours at a hotel a few times but at home I use it for sleepovers for my niece or when friends come to visit!

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

We bought one and have yet to use the play yard. We used the bassinet as a changing station for a few months and now she sleeps in the bassinet part.
When we move I plan to use the play yard so DD doesn't get run over if the dogs are playing.

We keep ours by the front door just for a safe place to put her while we take our shoes off and put our stuff down. And I put her in it when I'm cooking and can't chase after her. Sometimes she cries because she doesn't want to be contained. But I keep toys in it for her so she usually settles down and plays with them. We've only brought it with us to other people's homes a couple times. For us its not worth the trouble of carrying it and setting it up because everyone just wants to take her out to hold her and play with her.

Re: Did anyone not have a pack n play?

Same thing with us. We bought the PNP when I was pg with DS. We used it one time. I swore I would use it with DD1 and DD2 but never did. It has become storage for stuffed animals Chat Icon
