Re: rock and play...would you rec. it?

Life saver : baby slept for hours in it bc she was slightly elevated and "cuddled" in it. And it is portable and folds up small. I'm sorry I even bothered with a swing.

Loved it! DD didn't care for the bassinet.

Yeah! They are less expensive and more portable than the bassinet we registered for. Plus the elevation is good for babies due to reflux.

I would but I will say that my son had a lot of trouble transitioning to the crib. He slept in the rock n play exclusively until about 4 months, with our next child I will introduce the crib much sooner but still use the rock n play for naps, travel etc.

I never had one, but have read up on it as I am PG with DC2..one article warns that it really isn't for extended sleep, etc..it's really meant to be a swing, bouncy seat situation as they have seen increased numbers of flat head since parents are using this as a primary sleep vessel..also, there is a risk of SIDS (as with everything else, but one article really explained it) and everything I read just turned me off to it...I know it's popular and this post won't be, but it's just something to think about.

It's funny you mention this because someone I work with had her son sleep in the rock and play almost exclusively (it was the only place he would sleep) and he developed flat head. Her son's doctor made her stop using it. Some of the reviews on Amazon warn of this also.
