HELP there is a visitor in my room

I am at my wits end:( my 3 year old is coming into my room at night trying to sleep with us. We have a queen size bed and my husband and I are all over the place. She kicks in her sleep and so having her in there is not an option.
When she comes in we pick her up and carry her back to her bed. This happens a lot and last night I lost count maybe 8x's. We are both exhausted and frustrated.

Any ideas???

Re: HELP there is a visitor in my room

Wish I could help, but my DS who's 4 does this sometimes. I actually put a big comforter on the floor at night so this way if he comes in he goes straight to sleep on the floor. I put a comforter folder that he sleeps on and he has a pillow and blanket he can take. Not thrilled about it at all, but we do it for now and it happens once in a while. At least he's not in the bed. I couldn't sleep.
My 2 yr old has no issues. Only my 4 yr old. He gets up at around 2 - 3AM each night. Sometimes goes back to sleep and sometimes doesn't. When he comes to the room and knows he'll be ok there then he goes right back to sleep.

Re: HELP there is a visitor in my room

We've been going through this on and off with my almost 3 year old since we did the toddler bed switch this summer. She seems to go through phases with it. This week has been a good week, so I'm Chat Icon we've turned the corner.
Like you, I won't put her in my bed. I just know I'll never get her out. I take her back immediately. And try to soothe her for a few minutes and leave. We usually repeat this a few times and then I have to put the baby gate on the door. She hates it and usually cries for a few minutes but she also gets over it quickly and goes to sleep. It's the only thing that works some nights.

HELP there is a visitor in my room

This happened to us to. However this has been a great week, and we are on night 5 of her staying in her bed.
I promised her "something special" each time she stayed in her bed, so I was going to Target a lot for little trinkets. I also try to reinforce that "big girls stay in their beds" and other things that big girls do. It's tiresome, but it may finally be clicking.
But, if she tries to come in our bed after 5 am, we generally allow her to, since we get up at 6 for work anyway. She will go back to sleep in our bed till at least 7. If its before that, then we walk her back to her room.

love it!

my son would visit every night at 2-3am. i would just let him in. You get sick of it, but you want sleep.
one night it just stopped.

it's sweet snuggling with their little faces. it's bitter sweet when it ends :(

Re: HELP there is a visitor in my room

I have a baby gate in front of the door. I don't close their doors, but I keep the baby gate up -

I started b/c we're on the 2nd floor (12 steps) and they're on the first. I can hear them easily if they call for me, but I'm always afraid of them trying to climb the wood stairs at night, alone and falling .......

but that gate has also worked to my advantage when I just need to keep them in there ......
