Seeking a 2BR apartment or House
Seeking a 2BR apartment. Location is pretty open, anywhere from Merrick to as Far East as Patchougue.(decent neighborhood)
Budget $1700 including utilities.
We have one small dog.
Prefer ground floor but open to seeing second floor apartments.
I've been on Craigslist everyday for 2 months and haven't had any luck!

Try mlsli.com and look under rentals. I was just on there looking at one in Holbrook, 2br for $1550. There were definitely some in your range!

Honestly, I find that the rental section of MLSLI is not updated very often. I go on there frequently and when I call an agent about an apartment, it seems its already been rented. Thanks for the suggestion though! I'll keep checking on there!

Try the NY Times Real Estate section. They have it online and I've found it to be really helpful. You can enter your search parameters which include areas and the listings are current.
Here's the link to their search feature, you can search by exact towns you'd like to live in. Just make sure to change the listing type from "for sale" to "for rent" then you pick the county you want and then you can actually pick which towns specifically: NY Times Real Estate

I have a suggestion but it's a little over your budget, starting at $2010 for two bedroom. I'll post the link if you are interested.
I lived here with my husband when we were first married from 2004-2005. We LOVED it! I've seen mixed reviews since leaving but might be worth checking out. I loved that it was a community. It had a pool (extra), club house, grounds were always nicely kept. You can have small pets, for an extra fee I think. We had 2 cats. We often wish we were back there.

It's a little over your budget but my mom lived here for awhile and it was nice and allows pets.

Medford Pond in Medford is worth checking out! It's a Heatherwood Community, they're large and very nice!

There is a Heatherwood apartment complex on Ronkonkoma Ave in Ronkonkoma. We rented a 2BR there last year and if I recall correctly the rent was 1698. I think it is called Heatherwood House.

My friend has a 2 bedroom apartment that she's trying to find tenants for. It's $1650 everything included except cable. It's in Massapequa. She said she has an ad on Craigslist.
