I have to chime in here. If the playdate had been planned to occur at someone's house, I would ask before bringing my DH but I have a very severe back injury and I would have to either cancel a lot of playdates or do a terrible job of watching my child if I am in pain. I am at a point in my life where I can't worry about what people think of this. I explain it once and if people can't accommodate me then my child and I have to move on to people who will. I make plenty of effort to make sure that this injury does not impact my child's life. If someone can't throw me a bone and deal with the fact that I may need DH's help to properly supervise, then they are missing out on a good friend and a very nice kid for their child to know. To me, more adults in a swimming pool is the more favorable situation to have.

I've read all the post on the subject and here is my opinion - your DH is a little too controlling and a little too jealous and you are a little irrational about your fears regarding dad's of your kid's friends. I'm thinking you either 1. look like mila kunis or 2 hang out with a bunch of pervy swingers.

ITA... Are you not allowed to have any males over ever? My DH is a contractor and works in people's homes all day. At times there is a SAHM there. A lot of these women are friends of ours. I don't think twice about the fact that DH is in the house with another women and her kids. I know it's a different senerio, but just sounds like you and your DH have I'll feelings towards other men. I have a lot of male friends I never hooked up with and they never hit on me. Just good friends and DH has become very close with as well.
Not really sure where I'm getting at with this... Lol. Just saying I don't think it's a big deal a guy is there with his wife and kids.

i would have given a heads up and i personally would have like a heads up if i only expected the mom to be coming just in case i was serving food or whatever (I am a FTWM and dont really do many playdates so i dont know if you are expected to serve food)
but i would also find it strange if the ther person i had a playdate with had a problem with DH coming with me and i would probably not make another playdate with them
