Anyone planning to use cloth diapers?

I have decided to use cloth diapers.
I'm blown away by the choices these days. So many to choose from I don't know where to start! Anyone else going cloth?
Anyone have any experience with them?
I'm leaning towards pre folds and covers.
I have no experience with them so any and all advise appreciated!

My fave are pockets. I use alva baby, kawaii, and bumGenius. I buy them very cheap from co-ops, also found on FB.

Re: Anyone planning to use cloth diapers?

I've been researching the heck out of them, and it seems the most budget friendly way to diaper is with prefolds and covers. However, they require rolling and snapping in place, etc.

I then researching pocket diapers and all in ones (AIOs). Pocket diapers require for you to stuff them with an insert, they have microfiber, hemp, etc. but then they snap in place like a regular disposable diaper, so if you prestuff them after they get out of the wash, its just like disposable. AIOs are more expensive than pockets, but they are literally exactly like disposable diapers. Just snap them, no stuffing!

I am cloth diapering to save money, and I'm not sure if I'm having more kids so whether they last or not doesn't matter much to me. I ordered 20 Alva pocket diapers (with inserts) for $84 off their website. there are also cloth diaper co-ops on Facebook that offer reduced prices. HTH!

Re: Anyone planning to use cloth diapers?

I am planning on doing cloth most of the time, and I am completely over whelmed by the choices. It is all very confusing. But I think I am going to start with prefolds and covers and move on to pockets as the baby gets older.

I never used cloth but a child at the daycare I work at has used Bum Genius brand if you want to research.

Just wanted to let you know I was researching cloth diapers this past weekend and found out that Alva supplies Kawaii and Sunbabies, also one other I can't remember the name, maybe gogogreen? But they just charge a premium for the diapers. So make sure you check the Alva site, or amazon for the same diaper for cheaper, although i read ordering directly from Alva can take a long time to get the diapers.

I think my final decision is Alva diaper bundle off of amazon, and prefolds with thirstie covers and some inserts. Then I will buy a little at a time as I find covers and all in ones I like.

While that may be true. Alvas and Kawaiis are very different. The fit, the shape, the materials. I haven't tried the new aplix from Alva, I only have their snaps. Kawaii I have both. I do love both brands, but Kawaiis remain my fave. :)

So happy for so much interest in CD here!

Do you think Kawaii's one size will fit a newborn? I was hoping to take advantage of their sale right now and get the one size for my DS (18 monhts) and the baby. I've heard their one sizes tend to run big?

I didn't CD my son as a NB, but I don't think you'd get a snug fit. Really depends on the size and shape of the baby. I wouldn't invest in too many NB size, but would OS. You can order super cheap through co-ops on FB. I usually end up spending $5/dipe. What does it work out to on their site?

This is what makes cloth diapering so confusing to me, I read the exact opposite on line. I am glad to have your perspective. I will pick up some Kawaiis as well and see how I like them.

Thanks!
