I love swim america...we have also done saf-t-swim, and for us, swim america wins hands down.

Re: Swim Lessons

We have had an excellent experience with Safety Swim. My little guy started at almost four years old and was swimming within four months.

Re: Swim Lessons

Most towns offer free or reduced swimming to that age. The towns go by the American Red Cross which is the best way to teach! Saf-t-swim does not teach that way. DS has been going to NYSC in Hicksville for the last couple of years. We have also done 1 session of saf-t-swim and 1 session of the Nassau County swim!

We take DD to the YMCA in Patchogue. Although we do a mommy & me since she is only 1, they do have other groups geared towards each swim level.

Re: Swim Lessons

I suggest your local YMCA or town pool. Saf-T-Swim is really about "survival swimming" i.e. under water and it's really crowded. It's best for the really little ones but at 5 they are ready to learn real strokes. I would stay away from Long Island Swim school unless you like dealing with cold hearted, indifferent staff.
