Childcare options when pre-school is not in session?
Twins will be attending pre-school that is on a school calendar, and we will need to make arrangements for the weeks when the school is closed (Spring recess, etc.) We both work full time and don’t have enough vacation to cover the breaks without an outside help.
Do I have any other options besides getting a babysitter? Are there any daycares that may take them only for a few weeks during the year? I would prefer for the kids to be in a group setting.
We are in Wantagh.

Camp?
Many places offer summer long camp. Our children's preschool offers as do private schools. I think many places specialize in just summer camp.

I would definitely think a lot of daycares might take them for the summer. I know mine empties during the summer because a lot of the mom's are teachers so there is space for new kids just for the summer.

Some daycares offer "drop in" care - when schools are out of session - I would check with some of the larger centers to see if they have availability.

my pre-school is the same. i've heard that some parents have arranged for a teacher from the school to watch their kids during breaks.

might want to reconsider your option for school. Many daycare centers offer a great/educational preschool program that runs 12 months through out the year. Unless you can find someone to watch your kids on school holidays, private preschools that run on school calendar is hard to do for working moms these days. If you kids are 'school age-K and up" some do centers do holiday care. just a thought.

This is what we will do.
My Tutor Time has an excellent preschool and Pre K program and the hours are the same as for daycare- 630 am to 6 30 pm.
The don't do a school program all that time- but it's daycare for the rest of the work day.

My nephew attend Harbor Child Care in Mineola. They offer both preschool all day(daycare hours) and also school calendar as well. Not sure if they have care on Holidays and vacations, but it good to think about, same building, and familiar faces.

some daycares will take for summer but probably not school weeks... thats why we picked a year roun d place
