With DS, DH and I planned our pregnancy. With this child,we did not. I have so many mixed emotions. I feel so blessed and I'm so happy, but I'm also terrified. We have been a family of 3 for almost 3 years and I'm just scared to see how DS will be and how our life will change. Has anyone else felt this way or have gone through it with words of advice? Thanks!

I haven't gone through it but I wanted to try to ease your fears from things I have seen and heard. I have heard that the first couple of days after baby is born some children are in love right away and others are scared and don't know how to react. My cousin had a thing with her oldest when her second child was born because she NEVER slept away from home before. Her oldest thought the baby broke mommy because she had to stay in the hospital. After 2 days though it went away and the oldest fell in love with the youngest. Now they play together all the time (5 and 1) and the oldest takes care of the youngest (as best a 5 year old can LOL).

I remember my mom telling my cousin and others when the second baby comes make the older one more of a "mommy's little helper". I'm sure if will all work out. It's all how you prepare your child for the second. Your son is 3 and might actually understand and be excited about his little baby brother or sister.

Please try and relax. It will all work out and you will see, those two will become best friends!

Re: Baby#2

Congrats on #2!!

I'm PG with #2 and DD will be 2.5 at delivery time. I have slept away from her 1-2 nights at a time since she was an infant but I know that I will be a repeat C-section so I will be away for much longer than she's used to. So far we talk often about when the baby comes that mommy has to go to the hospital to see the doctor. The doctor will take the baby out. DD will come visit mommy at the "hopsital"Chat Icon and meet the baby. When mommy gets home with the baby DD will help mommy feed, burp (her favorite), and get diapers for the baby.

DD has been to every sono to "see the baby on the computer." She kisses the baby every night before bed. I just told her that the baby can hear her now (almost 17 weeks) so she should tell the baby "i love you" and "i can't wait to meet you"

Anyway, that's what we're doing to prepare DD for #2. I hope it works out to be a nice experience for her but at this age you just never know.Chat Icon

Re: Baby#2

Thank you all so much.

I am having so much anxiety with all of this. I'm nervous for our entire family hahahaha. To top it all off, DS has only slept away from me one night and he was only 8 months, so I know he doesn't remember. This delivery will be a scheduled c- section so I know that I will be away for quite some time as well. So much to think about, but I know I just need to relax. I think it's harder too since DH and I are keeping this pregnancy a secret since we've experience m/c before.

Okay sorry for rambling. Thanks for listening!
