I had mine done as a baby and I plan on doing the same. I would want the DR to do it however.

I'm not a fan of baby ear piercing, if we have a DD we will not do it until she is older (maybe 8?)

Ear piercing...

We did our DD at 6mths and I am so happy with my decision. I was really nervous about it initially but it didn't hurt her at all and she has never even touched them

With dd we did not pierce her ears. We want to wait until she is older.

DD#1 had hers done at 6 weeks. That was almost 16 years ago; most people wait a little longer now. DD#2 had hers done last Saturday she is 5. Lol

Dd #1 pierced at 6 months when the dr would do it. No issues and love seeing her ears haha. It was really cute when little. She's almost 3 now and still no issues

Dd#2 is only 1 day old haha but I will pierce when I can. I don't if or when this per does it. But as soon as I can

I thi k it's adorable and I thi k it's better when they are you get and don't know they are there. Never been infected. She won't let me ch age them but that's ok

Re: Ear piercing...

I think its cute, but my DH was/is so against it. He felt it should be her choice not mine. I had to respect him on that and compromise. DD (almost 7) will get them when she asks. Needless to say, she will probably be in college Chat Icon I am fine with it but I just think there are few girls who don't have their ears pierced and its easier to do it when they are babies.

Re: Ear piercing...

If your dh wants it but you're neutral, then I see no reason not to get it done.

For me, if we were having a girl, I would have wanted to get her ears pierced. However, my dh is reallllly opposed so I just wouldn't have made it an issue because it doesn't matter enough.

That's exactly how we are. I think guys just don't understand. For myself, I wish I had them done as a baby because all my friends had it but I was always too afraid to get them done till I was in 5th grade! Of course I got over my fear by the time I was 18 and got my bellybutton pierced! Chat Icon

Re: Ear piercing...

I want to do my dd's ears early. I havent asked my dh's opinion but I dont think he will care. I figure it will just be easier to do the younger she is bc she'll cry for a second and it'll be over rather then when shes older and is scared of the pain and all that.

We are having a boy but if we were having a girl I would DEF get her earpieced. I know Italians due it very early on in the baby's life (we're both 50%). My SIL is getting my nieces done next week. Her dr told her to do it before 6 months because after 6 months the baby will start playing with her ears.

Ear piercing...

I know a lot of people who do this but I agree that I'd rather it be my little girl's choice. I got my ears pierced at 8 when I asked my mom if I could get them done.

Re: Ear piercing...

I will be doing it as early as possible if it's a Chat Icon

My parents knew someone who wanted to do it when I was 2 weeks old but of purse my mom freaked out, said no and waited. Unfortunately, by the time she did it I was so fidgety that they could only do one at a time which didn't work.

DH doesn't like this idea one bit lol.

Personally I'm not a fan. I cry as it is when DD gets vaccinations, why would I want to deliberately stick her with a needle? Personal decision though...they look adorable on others' babies, but just not my cup of tea.

Re: Ear piercing...

Our ped did it at 4 mo. I'd rather have it done early before they can touch them and bother them.

I did it when dd was 7 months. We went to a place that numbed her ear so no pain Chat Icon
I wish I did it sooner because she did not a stranger near her ears Chat Icon

My mom is a Ped and did it at her office...family fun LOL Chat Icon

Ditto. I don't want dd to have to endure any pain for aesthetics. Shots are hard enough for dd and I to bear! When she is old enough to ask, I hope to make a fun day of it. Dd is 19mo and #2 is a boy.

I'd rather it be Dd's choice. If she asks to get her ears pierced one day, I look forward to taking her and making it a mommy/daughter day!

Re: Ear piercing...

because of seeing this post we discussed this last night because I knew my feelings about it but I wanted to see what dh thought...

turns out he is on board with my decision of; she will get her ears pierced when she asks to..

I asked to get my ears pierced for my 11th birthday..I am sure she will ask earlier..or maybe she will never want them.. I just wanted it to be her decision..
