22 month old and bad breath

Please help me LOL my son has the worst breath. He loves to brush his teeth but is clearly not getting the job done and will NOT let me near him to help him. Any advice you can offer?

My friend let her son brush her teeth and then she brushed his. It was the only way he'd let her get near his mouth and he loved that he got to brush mommy's teeth:)

Bad breath is not always associated with teeth, sometimes it could be a gastro problem or something could be in his nose ( been there Chat Icon )

And you shouldn't let your 22 months old to brush his own teeth. Try to do it first and then ask him to help you and brush in the places that you "missed" , play a song- something that he likes, maybe take him for his first visit.

Is it recent or chronic? sometimes a bad sore throat (or strep) or post nasal drip causes that!

Around that age I bought my son a Spiderman toothbrush that lit up and sparkled or something like that..that really made him want to do it...and you could say first I do then you do - that might work! Chat Icon

DD had/has this problem. The dentist told me that it usually is because they aren't brushing their gums. If DD's breath still smells right after she brushed I remind her she has to brush her gums and make her brush again and that usually takes care of it

22 month old and bad breath

my dentist told us to use the kids toothpaste with floride instead of the training toothpaste. We use a very small dab and rub it around the crush with out finger first to make it sudsy. You may want to take a trip tp the dentist to get a good cleaning. she said it's still safe if swallow along as it's a small amount
