Maternity Clothes

I'm new to this board, but I'm sooooo frustrated trying to find decent but inexpensive maternity clothes on Long Island. Today I went to Macy's in Roosevelt Field. I tried on the Motherhood pants and tops. I felt so frumpy. They only come in sizes S, M, and L. The medium is too tight and the large looked dumpy. I walked away with nothing. I've ordered stuff online at Loft, Gap and Old Navy, but I'm so sick of returning the stuff via mail when I don't like it or it doesn't fit. Does anyone know which Gap or Old Navy or H&M carried maternity lines?

Thanks!!!! I am down to one pair of pants that actually fit and I'm getting super embarrassed at work. Especially since I haven't told any of my colleagues yet!

Re: Maternity Clothes

I had the same experience. Thank God, my sister and some friends lent me their clothes. I found things were either too big or too small. Everyone told me to go to Old Navy in Garden City, but their selection was soooo small. I ended up gtetting some nice things in Sears.

The Gap in Roosevelt field has maternity and the Old Navy in the source has a small maternity section.

Thanks for the suggestions. My cousin is giving me a bag of stuff, and it can't arrive soon enough. I'm embarrassed b/c I have one pair of pants that fit me and I wear them every day to work!!!

Re: Maternity Clothes

Just keep your expectations in check a bit. What fits you perfectly now will be tight by the end of your pregnancy. For me, it made sense to buy clothes that were a little too big at the beginning b/c you need room to grow! And you don't know how you'll grow. I bought a few pairs of jeans a size up figuring I'd gain but I didn't and now they literally fall down. But for work pants, I personally love the Motherhood Maternity pants. Old Navy and Gap pants were always too big or too flared. But I'd recommend going to the MM store (rather than Macys) where you'll find a larger selection to try on.

Re: Maternity Clothes

Old Navy and the Gap will return in store as long as the store carries maternity. I returned to the Gap at Roosevelt Field no problem. It says return only by mail, but that is not true.

I got almost all my stuff from these 2 stores - I ordered some things in 2 sizes and then returned the one that didn't fit. I found most things fit my pre-pregnancy size at ON but sometimes I had to go a size down at the Gap (especially for things I wore at the beginning).

One word of caution, I'm assuming you aren't that far along yet - you will get bigger and body will change, so things that are big now, may fit you just right in a month/few months. You may want to buy as you go along.

Edited to add: Target lets you return in store too. I did the same thing with a few target shirts- ordered Medium and Large and returned the one that didn't fit.

Re: Maternity Clothes

I recently went to Gap in Roosevelt Field right after christmas and was told they don't carry Maternity...maybe that has changed?

I've been having trouble myself. Target, I haven't found much (just leggings that seem to run easily so I wouldn't reccomend those....Kohl's had some nice things...Loft I am just wearing a size up from my reg. size and it seems to be okay...I did find a lot of jeans at Macy's in Sunrise Mall (not the greatest selection but its something)

I do hear that Old Navy in the Source Mall has a good selection.

ETA: New York and Co, carries pants that have elastic, they aren't maternity per say- but they form fitting and comfortable!

I hope that helps!

Re: Maternity Clothes

I did really well at Target.com, and their prices can't be beat. Also, try Kohl's. Not a huge huge selection, but def cheaper than Destination Maternity.

Maternity Clothes

I hit up Gap at Roosevelt Field and H&M today. I got a pair of khakis, black skinny corduroy pants, and jeans for Gap. Two of the three need to be hemmed but they're comfortable and not too farty. I got two pairs of flowered leggings and three collared shirts from H&M. I'm pleased with the purchase for today and I have a couple of other items arriving this week from Old Navy online. Hopefully this will be good for a few months - at least until I have to buy spring/summer clothes!!!!

Try Ebay!!!!!!!! They are wayyy cheaper than stores! You can find some awesome deals on pre owned clothes. To me that's just the way to go!
