EBF and pumping

I am trying to start freezing bags of breast milk. When do you pump if you are EBF?

EBF and pumping

DD2 has started STTN, sometimes I pump before bed after her last feeding OR since DD1 usually wakes up before DD2 does so I pump in the morning before she wakes (only the boob she won't be nursing from).

Re: EBF and pumping

I need to have a freezer supply also so I've been pumping right after his first feeding. If I have time then I will also do it once in the afternoon.

Re: EBF and pumping

I started pumping just a few hours after birth to build my supply quickly since DD was in NICU. My supply came in much faster this time than with DS. I am not afraid to pump while she naps because I know if she wakes up, she will still have plenty to drink as babies are much more efficient than the pump. (I was always so nervous to pump while DS slept because I always thought I wouldn't have enough for him to eat). Or if DD somehow only eats one side, I go to pump both sides. Remember to pump both sides as it helps get both breasts stimulated at the same time. DD now typically sleeps about 3 hours between feedings. I try to pump once per day (but doesn't always happen) to get my supply up in the freezer for when I return to work.

I haven't started pumping yet but I have to since I'm going back to work in January. I'll probably do it when he skips feeding time.

Re: EBF and pumping

With both of my children I fed on one side and pumped on the other for the first morning feeding. This has worked pretty well and I started it right away, when my milk came in.

I used to pump 2 times at work and also 1 hour after BFing. I would also pump before going to bed at night.
