Is this an ok way to store boiled water for formula?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question..

But once I boil and let the water cool I plan to put it in a pitcher and let it sit over night until I use it the next morning. Is this ok to do or does it need to go in the fridge, Im clueless lol

ETA: Also, how long do I let the water boil for?

ETA: I know buying a gallon of water is cheaper or buying a brita is easier but Im trying to save money even if its 99 cents a galloon. Ive been buying the bottled water but want to stop since I can get free water at home.

I always put the boiled water in the fridge, figured it could get bacteria at room temp.

I boiled enough for the day in the morning and kept it in a Dr Browns pitcher.

I just buy bottled water. less than .99 for a gallon......save the time fo boiling. Now that DS is older I keep it in the frig cause he like cold bottles but I was just keeping it on the counter.

Ditto- just so you know the second air hits it, it's no longer sterile.
So it's kind of futile to boil it.
Unless you live in an area where there is known contamination in the water supply that is.

I boil the water, let it cool in the kettle overnight, then put it in a sealed pitcher in the morning, once it is cool. I leave it out on the counter all day and night.

I agree that there's really no need to boil, but that's what my ped wanted me to do, so I've been doing it. The doctor even admitted that our water supply is totally safe, but it's an extra precaution.

We boil it for 2 minutes, and then store in at room temperature.

While it might not be completely sterile, the bacteria you kill when boiling it remain dead even after it cools down.

I boiled it in the morning and kept a room temperature pitcher on the counter. Filters are good for getting out extra minerals and other impurities but filters don't remove bacteria.

Even with a generally "safe" water supply there could be bugs in your tap water, better to be safe than sorry with the boiling...

I've always boiled the water at night and let cool overnight. Once cool I fill the bottles with the amount needed and left the rest in the tea kettle. I then would use what's left in the tea kettle as needed. I also never reboil the water, always a fresh batch.
