Fair rate for in home child care
Ds goes to a babysitter who watches him in her home for $8/hr. she is not licensed and there are usually 3-4 other toddlers there sometimes more or less. We are happy with his care. We will be bringing ds and dd (3mo) soon and she said the rate for 2 would be $15/hr. I thought this seemed high but wanted opinions before saying so and want to be fair. They will be going for 3 full days/week. Ds has been going there since he was 7wk old. We don't pay her if ds doesn't go with advanced notice.

I guess it depends on how many hours you are using....
One in home place i called was 55 a day infant or toddler, another was 285 a week toddler, more for infant.......both places were licensed.

Fair rate for in home child care
I heard on radio yesterday that the average is 12.50 per hour. Keep in mind the toddler is easy to take care of compared to infant who will eat every 3hours or so....I would charge more for baby also. Ask her if infant gets older will rate go down?

we pay $55/day/kid This includes food, snacks, etc... about 8 hrs or so... i also do not pay on days that we do not send the kids... there are NEVER more than 4 kids there! usually 3 (two are mine)

where i live, in home daycare usually charge by the day, not the hour. i have heard of rates as low as $25/day in the south. i would expect a daily rate of about $50/day in the ny area.

is this a babysitter rate or an in home daycare rate?
