Boarding and vet recs needed
I am bummed about this but I need to board my dog for the first time in his life (he is almost 10.)
It's only 2 or 3 days but I still hate to do it. 
I wish I had someone to take care of him but I just don't.
Can anyone recommend a place, preferably cageless, near either Lindenhurst or Hicksville?
I also need a reasonable vet near either town.

I'm not sure if this is too far for you, but Best in Show Pet Resort in Mineola looks quite nice. (I think I'd like to book a weekend there for myself!) I've never used them or known anyone who use them though.

Best in show is great. If you are looking for cage less then check out the Barrie inn - they are Amazing

i highly recommend my vet Dr. Rosen at Deer Park Animal Hospital. As for a place to board I know there is a "pet hotel" on deer park animal hospital although I have never used them.

We use Deer Park Animal Hospital- they are wonderful. Dr Rosen and the rest of the staff are great! For boarding we use the Willow Pet Hotel right next door. My family has used them for years and I can't say enough good things about them! Call and ask for Mark- he will address any concerns that you may have.
