Drawbacks to bugaboo chameleon?

If you have one, of if you decided against one, can you tell me what the drawbacks were?

Thanks!

The price? Chat Icon

It seems like a great stroller; two of my friends have one.

I actually bought it and then returned it for the Vista. My one major issue was having to take the seat out to fold it. We live in an urban area. I probably drive twice a week, but the times I do drive it involves having to deal with the stroller quickly in a parking lot. I didn't want to have to spend the extra five minutes taking the seat off folding the stroller etc.

It's a beautiful stroller ( I think strollers can totally be pretty!!), but paired with the annoyance of taking it apart and then adding in alot of what was standard on the Vista, eventually swayed me.

I think if you never plan on putting in and out of a car than it's a great stroller!

Re: Drawbacks to bugaboo chameleon?

Price 100%!

My friend has one and regrets getting it. She used it for 3 months and ended buying another stroller. She felt it was bulky, heavy snd a lot of work to fold. She slso said it didnt fit down some aisles in stores.

My other friend got the uppababy and loves it.

Another friend has the britax b ready and loves it uses it now with the double seat since she is on her second child.

I ended up with britax. Ill let you know once my lil girl gets here how great or mot great it is...

But all these strollers function pretty much the same. They have multiple configurations, seats and attachments. It depends on what your needs are. I found the most objective reviews on amazon and thats what sealed the decision for me. Along with the baby bargains book and their ratings including safety.

Drawbacks to bugaboo chameleon?

I just wanted to add that my SIL had the Bugaboo Frog and adored it (has since sold it and bought the Donkey after her second was born), and the Cameleon just has upgraded features from the Frog making it even better. She HIGHLY recommended it and that is one of the reasons I purchased it. I also did lots of research and found that the majority of people who have the Cameleon have not regretted it - they were very happy. You should definitely try googling it. The price also recently went down. It was always $880.00 plus the fabric for another $100, making it $980. Now it's $750 and the fabric is $50 making it $800. Going from almost $1,000 to $800 definitely helps (we bought it at this lower price). It's only about $100 more than the UppaBaby Vista now. (The prices went down because the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 debuts in the Fall.)

ETA: Any reason why you only want to hear drawbacks and not positives?

Re: Drawbacks to bugaboo chameleon?

We were considering the Bugaboo but decided against it because of the size (width). Same for the Vista...both great strollers - they do everything! We decided on the UppaBaby Cruz...I hope I don't wish I had the monster wheels at some point, but it will be easier to get around with.

Drawbacks to bugaboo chameleon?

I was debating between the Chameleon and the Uppababy when I had DS. I ended up going with the Vista, just because it seemed like I would get more use out of it. Sometimes I wish I decided with Bugaboo. It's a really great stoller, and eveyone I know that has it loves it.

Re: Drawbacks to bugaboo chameleon?

We decided against it because it broke down into two pieces and was heavy. I live in the city and figured that getting it in and out of a cab/bus/etc. would be too difficult. I bought the Baby Jogger City Mini with the bassinet and after 2+ years it is still in great shape!

Well, I can understand. But as someone who lives in NYC and will be walking everywhere and not putting it in and out of a car, it is an investment for me.

I'd love to hear positives too!

I've just mostly heard only great things about it - so I wanted to hear about the not so great stuff....

But definitely tell me the good stuff too!

Makes sense to me... I mentioned my SIL earlier and she lives in Chicago, is a SAHM, and so she walks her girls on a daily basis and rarely puts it into or out of a car. It handles like a dream on any terrain... And I get what you're saying about wanting to hear more negatives bc you've only heard positives! It's good to get all perspectives. Chat Icon

I love my Frog which my mom got me when I had my DS. I love it and its not heavy at all, however, the one drawback about the stroller is the fact that you have to take it apart into two pieces when folding. Even though its super easy and I got used to it, I could see it being a PITA.

I love my stroller though...its so light and easy to navigate. Its also easy to clean and maintain and comes with great accessories.

Drawbacks to bugaboo chameleon?

I have a chameleon & I love it. I walk daily with my kids so I just put it away in the garage at night. I got used to how to get it folded pretty quickly. When DD2 came I did buy a Joovy double (DH would hear nothing about spending money on the Donkey), but I also bought the wheelie board for the bugaboo so I still use it. If you can afford it, go for it!

Drawbacks to bugaboo chameleon?

I originally registered for the chameleon & my mom got it for us but after looking into it a little more decided to exchange it for the uppababy vista. It had nothing to do with the cost but mostly the convienence factor with the folding & also the vista has a nicer bassinette, and isn't as heavy and bulky as the chameleon, & I like the look of the vista better.
