I read that if you put them in vinegar water for an hour it helps keep them fresh. I'm going to give it a try. I usually just wash them right before I eat them, and I try to use them within 3 days.

There is a thing going around Pinterest that really works.

Make a solution of 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water.

Rinse all of the strawberries and blueberries in it. You don't have to leave them in that long. Apparently the vinegar kills the mold spores.

Your fruit will last MUCH longer in the fridge after that without getting moldy!

Yep this.
I saw that on Pinterest and tried it, WORKS AWESOME, I am getting 9 days out of my berries now where previously it was like 3-4.

I literally just "swish" the berries in the vinegar + water, just a quick bath.

The fruit tastes perfect, you don't taste vinegar at ALL. I wouldn't soak them for one hour - you don't need to, and I think that would make them taste like vinegar?

I just put them in the fridge. If I picked a good batch, it lasts me about 5-6 days.

I usually plow through them within a couple of days, but I'm definitely going to try this vinegar/water rinse...I avoid buying berries in large quantities because they tend to spoil quickly. Hopefully that will change!

I did the vinegar / water thing and it had the opposite effect. Maybe I didn't store them properly afterwards? What do you store them in after washing them in the mixture? A tupperware? Or does it need to be open, like a bowl?

I just put them in the fridge, but I will try the vinegar thing when I buy them in bulk from Costco next time.

Hmmm, I don't think I did. I put them back in the carton they came in as well. DD loves blueberries and I'd love to make them last longer. I'm going to try it again this week and dry them. Hopefully it works.
