Home Alarm Companies
I know there was a post not too long ago about Alarm Companies but I can't seem to find it.
We had ADT come give us a price the other day and I felt that it was high. I'm not really sure if my expectations are unrealistic. I hear bad things about Slomin's but i'm not sure if the info that I received it legit.
Can anyone offer any insight as to what you use, have used, promotions going on, etc.

We have slomin's for a few months now and we are very happy with it.
They were in and out in a day. They didn't try and push us on any of the bells and whistles.

we have Slomins but thats because my husband works for them 
ETA: i think they are having some promtotion where you get a camera now with basic installation but i really dont know or have details.

we have slomin's too. the installation price was cheaper than other companies that quoted us but keep in mind they make you sign a 5 year contract.

We've had Slomin's since '05 and have been very happy with them. We recently had to remove and re-install (long-story) and even with some scheduling and pricing confusion, I still recommend them to friends and family.
I also agree with a PP about the free camera with new install....ask when you call to set up the estimate if it's included.

We had ADT in here about a year ago and I felt their pricing was outrageously high.
In February we had Slomins come in. Much more reasonable and have been happy with the product since.
We didn't bother with the "free" camera because it doesn't record or anything. And since I am a SAHM there was no need to use it as a "nanny cam". Plus, in order to view the camera you have to pay for their smartphone app service (I think it was like an extra $2 a month).

I have Slomins and am not a fan but I am stuck with them because I have everything set up already. They are so shady when you call. I was mislead when I called about a construction hold which was very irritating but I didnt have the time to fight them on it.

We have slomins. As bare bones as you can get.
I dislike them as a company but have had no issues and the price is reasonable.

We use Lowitt Alarms. They are a smaller, local family-owned company that is A rated with the Better Business Bureau. When we were getting quotes, ADT and Slomin's wanted us to lock into a 5 year contract whereas Lowitt only required a 2 year contract. The monthly monitoring service fee was comparable to ADT and Slomin's (about $5/month cheaper). I have nothing but good things to say about their service so far. We've had to have them come back twice for some minor issues and both times they were prompt, handled the issues efficiently, servicemen were knowledgeable/friendly, and they did not charge us a service call fee. Highly recommend!

We also use Lowitt for monitoring (we had someone else hardwire the system while we were doing construction on our house) and have been very happy so far.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I also felt that ADT was a bit unreasonable and even pushy. I'm going to check out Lowitt Alarms. If anyone has any other recommendations, i'd still love to hear them. Thank you all again.

We have ADT and love them. Excellent customer service and never had any problems.
Priced out Lowitt.. about double the price for installation.
and Slomins was cheaper for installation/service but knew someone who set her alarm off (as a test of the service and response) and no one called the house or sent police.

We use VMS Security and we're very happy with them. Always available to answer questions, great service and customer service. I had a call recently from the owner, thanking me for giving him a referral. They've been in the business for about 24 years. (they are not the same or connected with VMS Alarms in RI that has some bad reviews).

We used Always on Security Solutions. They were great to work with and have excellent customer service. Pricing was the best for installation and monthly monitoring was the best price we found.

We used Banner Alarm in N. Massapequa. Loooooved them. My parents had used them years ago too. Very nice, very reasonable, and they did an amazing installation job.

We used Banner in our other house but had problems with them and I think they are very rude. The install was good though.
We now have Slomins. I had a lot of companies come over including Lowitt, ADT, and some other small companies.
Slomins offered the most for my money and the salesperson was extremely knowledgeable and was the only one that didn't push me. He knew my budget and he knew exactly what I wanted.
I love the camera. We use it to look out front so when we are in the back of the house, we can see who is at the door, etc. It's free and there are zero charges associated with it. Even the app is free.
