Yellow Eye Crusties

Hi All-
Does anyone ever notice little yellowish eye crusties in the corners of your LO's eyes. I see them sometimes, but they're really small...my DH doesn't even see what I'm talking about when I try to point them out to him. My DD had a dr. appointment a couple of weeks ago, and the dr. didn't seem concerned (she didn't see them either!). Should I be concerned, or am I being crazy?

If it is not happening frequently or appearing in a large amount then I would not be concerned about it. The only time I would get concerned if the gunk in the corner of the eye seems to occur frequently or is excessive because that may be an indication of a clogged tear duct. DD had clogged tear ducts and she would have green eye gook in the corner of her eyes all the time. At first they told me DD would grow out of it and just to use a warm wash cloth and massage the area from the corner of their eye towards their nose. Most of the time children born with clogged tear ducts clear up on their own.

Both of my kids had this for the first few months of life. They were clogged tear ducts and they were given an ointment to clear it up. I had to also massage the ducts to help them open up. The poor things constantly had guck coming out of their eyes. My third little one will probably have the same thing, and I'll nip it in the bud sooner bc I know what it is and how to correct it.

Thanks! She had a clogged tear duct when she was younger, and I thought it cleared up, but she's 7 months now and it seems to be back. I'll call the dr. tomorrow to be on the safe side.
