I would say to try an actual salon/spa instead of these nail places.
I feel like they are much cleaner, the people are better trained, and they are less shadey overall.
Yes, you will pay a bit more, but it seems like the place you are going to is ripping you off anyway, kwim?

I agree with the idea of a salon/spa. I rarely get manicures, but in my 20s I did go regularly to the typical cheapie nail places. So I had nothing to compare them to. Then I had a GC to get a mani/pedi at Maximus and wow, big difference in experience. A significantly cleaner, more pristine environment.

I get acrylic and I FMed you with a place in Ronkonkoma that may work for you. I've tried many places on LI and some were terrible. I know of one that could work for you.
