Ali Landry Didn't Have Sex Until Marriage
After six years of dating, Ali Landry's marriage to Mario Lopez ended in a matter of weeks when she discovered he had cheated.
So when it came time to get serious with now-husband Alejandro Monteverde, the Hollywood Girls Night star, 38, had one rule – abstinence.
"Because of the situation I was in before, I was just treading lightly, and did not want to make any mistakes in this relationship," Landry explains on an episode of The Wendy Williams Show airing Thursday. "We abstained from having sex until we got married."
Having wed the director in 2006, Landry – now mom to daughter Estela, 4½, and son Marcelo, 5 months – says her experience with Lopez taught her to listen to her heart.
"I had heard something right before the wedding. He swore that it was not true, but I had that feeling in my gut," she says. "All of my family was flying in – it was a destination wedding – and I really should have put the brakes on it at that point, but I was afraid."
Her suspicions aroused, a friend of Landry's offered up her phone-tapping skills.
"I was like, 'I don't want to tap a phone! I can't believe I'm doing this.' So she did, and right after the honeymoon I started getting phone calls from these girls," she recalls. "I confronted him and he still – to this day – denied it and never apologized. It was horrible."
Two weeks after the wedding, Landry filed for an annulment of her marriage, which was soon granted. Crushed, the actress found herself seeking solace in religion – which led her to Monteverde.
"I was so side-swiped by the whole thing ... I never really got angry. I discovered a lot about myself and I'm a better woman because of it," she notes. "I met my husband at a theology class in L.A. – who knew? He was the person I was meant to be with."

She must have really been desperate.. Imagine knowing something is true in your gut, hearing about it all around you.. but cant prve it? the slime ball denied it and denied it??? I think she needed to prove t so she could move on.. I see her point 100%

It is totally okay.. if you have a gut feeling about something and the other person is telling you it isn't true or your crazy.. you have every right to prove the TRUTH!!!!

You're going to compare her husband having sex with another woman at his bachelor party to her tapping his phone?  He CHEATED on her. All she did was prove it when he kept denying it.

i never knew this about her! How long did she and her husband date before they were married?
i can understand why she would have tapped his phone - i would need to proveit to myself too for my own peace of mind. I don't fault her for it.

He is a filthy pig and ever since this happened i have not been able to stand him. He also made it very clear if a woman he is with gains any lbs that he would get rid or her (or maybe just cheat on her). He sucks!!!

While I would probably do the same thing if I was her, you have to be careful about legalities. It's not a (legal) crime to cheat on your spouse, but it is a felony crime to eavesdrop in some states.

Illegally wiretapping a conversation in New York is eavesdropping. New York State Legislature reports that "eavesdropping is a class E felony." In New York, a class E felony carries an incarceration sentence of up to four years.
I'm not sure what the laws are where she is, but it's never a good idea to break a law to prove something, or get revenge. There are legal, effective ways of doing things, so she can get the evidence she needs without putting herself in jeopardy.
I'm not faulting her for tapping his phone, just concerned about the legalities of it.

i do not in any way approve of mario lopez cheating on his fiancee. it was beyond wrong.
i just question her morals as well. someone comes to you before the wedding and tells you your fiance cheated on you. you confront him, he lies, but you still believe he did it. and you go through with the wedding? why? why not cancel then? or postpone until you trust the person you are marrying? instead you marry the guy, tap his phone, and then annul the marriage?
and why bring it up six years later? he's moved on. you're supposedly happily married. why are you still thinking about some guy who you left?

I am sorry but you must be a VERY strong person. I can't imagine the pain I would feel if thought I had gone through what she did and wound up having to annul my marriage after 2 weeks.
While she can look back and say that she might not have believed him when he lied, at the time being just minutes away from her big planned out wedding she probably tried to convince herself that he was telling the truth.
It is always easier to see the bigger picture after looking back at it and not being so emotional.
I am suprised it took her this long to tell the world the details of what a scum bag he was.
She was probably too hurt and embarrassed to talk about it back then. Now that she has moved on she is comfortable opening up about it. A lot of people are like that.

Good for her! He is such a creep even when he co-hosts Live with Kelly; he cannot keep his freakin hands off of her. He ALWAYS has to be touching her arm, her shoulde, etx. It's really weird.
But, what was the point of putting him on blast 6 years later?

Just a small FYI:
Anyone watch the new show on the TV Guide Network called Hollywood Girls Night Out? It premiered 2 weeks ago and Alison Sweeney (from Days of Our lives and the Biggest Loser) and Ali Landry are the co-hosts.
Every week a group of celebrity women and these two hangout and have a little party dishing the real dirt about being a celebrity, and different random topics. Kendra Wilkinson guest starred last week.
In the first episode a question about sex came up and that was when Ali Landry mentioned the not having sex before she got married, I assume this interview was following up on what she had mentioned on her show.
1)The show is awesome, I really enjoyed it and 2) Mario Lopez is sucha dirt bag he deserves a lot more then a "phone tapping"
