Park for First Birthday?

Hey everyone! I'm new to the boards but looking for some advice from moms on Long Island. My daughter is 7 months and we're looking into her first birthday party. She'll be one on July 28th so we're hoping for good weather and planning on having her party at a local park. (We're going to have a rain date and if the weahther is just awful, it'll be at my mom's house) Would love some suggestions for parks that allow you to use their space for parties. Preferably a park that has tables already but we'd be willing to rent tables and chairs if need be. Thanks in advance! Chat Icon

ETA: Duh, I should probably say the location. Anywhere in Nassau or Western Suffolk is fine. Chat Icon

Re: Park for First Birthday?

We had my twins' 1st birthday party at Hoyt Farm in Commack. Plenty of tables and of things to keep kids occupied. We really had a good time. Only thing is that you would need someone who lives in the Town Of Smithtown to get the permit for you if you didn't live there yourself.

Re: Park for First Birthday?

we did cedar creek park for the kids birthdays... if you are planning to do a park, you must call and get your park permit to ensure you get the date.

when i went to pick out DDs date for the park, there was a man who wanted the same date in the same spot, but he was willing to move his party to another area of the park.

for DSs, party i had a party planner do all the work for us.

trust me when i tell you summer permits FILL up quickly

I read online that if you reserve an area of the park that 75% of the attendees must be Nassau residents - is that right?

Yes I just read the same thing. Otherwise these would've been great!

Unfortunately I am not a resident. We're in Lindenhurst, on the border of Farmingdale, so it's Town of Babylon. And I don't know anyone in Town of Smithtown, close enough anyway haha :)

Re: Park for First Birthday?

Tanner Park.

I am pretty sure they allow parties because we saw someone who had an informal wedding there.

They also have the Beach Hut where the adults can grab a drink, and the spray park for the kids.

I just know it gets crowded in the spray park in the summer, especially on weekends.

Re: Park for First Birthday?

as long as the person renting the park area is a TOH resident and has a leisure pass, it's all good... but any one not from nassau county has to pay for parking.

check your towns parks... and find out if you need a permit or not...
