How long did you use your swing?

I think DS is too big for his swing all of the sudden! He really likes it too! When did you finally decide to stop using it?

Re: How long did you use your swing?

By 4 months(20 lbs) it hardly swung anymore and he would sit up and lean forward in it so we stopped using it.

I am sure I am going to be the minority but my dd was in love with her swing and would nap in it until 11 months old.

Re: How long did you use your swing?

We are still using it at 8 months. I'm thinking we can't go too much longer though because he looks way too big for it.

My son hated his swing so after like 2 months of the swing basically being there so I could bang my knees or stub my toes on it, we took it back to babies r us fully assembled and they took it back! Sold it as a floor model! DS was fully content with his bouncy chair :)

Re: How long did you use your swing?

at 6 months - and i cried when we took it apart (LOL!)
he was hanging off hte side and trying to climb out of it - after he did it a few times i knew it was time to let go and put it away. i still miss that swing - it was only time i was able to actually take a few sips of a hot/warm cup of coffee -- lol!

with both DD and DS, the swing was put away by around 3 months...neither of them were ever really into it.

We put it away at 6 months. Once we started putting him in his exersaucer and jumperoo he had no interest in the swing!

When ds was too heavy... About 5 to 6 months.
He loved the swing and switched to napping in a stroller only.

Still going strong at 7 months! DD is 16lbs, so well within the weight limit.

She stopped napping in her crib around 4-4.5 months, so I've been putting her in the swing to nap Chat Icon Chat Icon and she sleeps SO well in there!!

Re: How long did you use your swing?

DD just turned 10 months and she still goes in there here and there. It's the only way DH can get her to sleep when I'm not home. I occasionally still let her nap in it during the day becuase she usually won't nap unless I'm holding her or she's in there. She's THIS CLOSE to not fitting in it anymore though!

This is us. DS is almost 4 months, and bored by it. But he never loved it anyway.

Re: How long did you use your swing?

DS is 5 mos, 18.5 lbs. he still goes in, but only to nap really. Our seat comes off and is a bouncy seat, which I use to put him in while we eat dinner, I blow dry my hair, or I'm doing something in the kitchen and he's in the mood to be near me. He doesn't try to get out or lean forward or anything.

7 months when we moved him into his crib. We got rid of the swing after that because I knew if he even saw the thing, he would want to go in it.

LMAO DD is 18 months and when I go to take a shower, she climbs into it and I strap her in and she watches TV!

She is a peanut though, only 20 lbs at her last check up.

She loves it! LOL and I love long hot showers!

Re: How long did you use your swing?

I got rid of them around 7mo. H. fell out of the swing (even though he was strapped in) and hit his head hard on the radiator. He had just had serious surgery on his skull and I was so mad at myself for putting off getting rid of the swings.

Re: How long did you use your swing?

My DD absolutely loved her swing & napped so long in it, but we stopped using it at 7 months old. She was starting to get very attached to it and would not sleep in the crib so I had to kick the habit before my DD got too big for the swing and we had no other options. I wanted her to get used to napping in her crib and use the swing as a backup option if we needed it. It took my DD about 4 days to get used to it (unfortunately with very short naps), but she is fully in her crib now for naps & at nighttime, and she naps great again, 2-3 hours at a time.
