HELP! Wakes up now for a feeding in the middle of the night!!!

So my son is almost 7 months and he has been an amazing sleeper since 2 months. He has been sleeping through the night since young. Now all of a sudden, since he was sick a few weeks ago,(still has that lingering cough) does he wake up now for a feeding between 2-4am. Should I let him CIO and fall back to sleep? Is it just a phase right now?

I should say it seems like he will be getting his first tooth soon, so he is so much more irritable now.

What should I do? I don't want this to become his routine? Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

TIA.

I would NOT feed him when he wakes up. At that age (and based on his sleeping history) he does NOT need to eat. If my DD ever woke up at night I would hold her, sit on the couch with her, snuggle her, etc. but she NEVER, EVER got a bottle. I did not want to get her in the habit of middle of the night bottles. She started STTN at 8 weeks old and once she did, never again did she get a nighttime bottle.

I'm not a fan of CIO, especially so young, so I would pick him up, rock him, hold him.........do anything except feed him. Chat Icon

I wonder if it's a growth spurt. That's about the age my baby wanted more food. Maybe amp up some food prior to bed? like a small jar of fruit. That's what I did when I noticed baby was waking up in wee hour of morning. By adding some food before bed, he slept through the night peacefully once more.

Ugh, my LO did the same thing. At first I gave her a bottle. She's suck it dry! So I figured she needed it and was hungry. Then eventually she's just take a few sips, turn over and go back to sleep. So I put a bottle with a little water in her crib. She's wake up, drink a few sips of water and go back to sleep. Now she doesn't even wake anymore. Thank god lol!

Sounds like a growth spurt to I would also suggest either jar food at night or a little oatmeal in the bottle in the last bottle just enough to hold them over I don't think that a bottle in the middle of the night is neccessary
