car seat help
my son is 9 months. just switched over to his convertible car seat. just a few questions.
do i still leave it in the middle and rear facing? he happens to be really tall (28 inches) and his feet hit the car seat and he still looks uncomfy. what do you gals do?

You don't have to leave it in the middle, but yes you absolutely have to leave it rear facing. The new recommendation is rear facing until at least 2 years old. They may look uncomfortable, but they are way more flexible than adults. Also, their necks are not yet developed enough to withstand a forward facing car accident until 2 years old.

Also, make sure that your car actually allows a seat to be safely in the middle especially if using the lower teather straps. I know for a fact in my car that I am NOT allowed to have a seat in the middle - so DS is on the passenger side.

Definitely check with your car manual. I don't have the LATCH anchors for the middle rear seat, but I am able to put the carseat in the middle by using the seatbelt. You don't HAVE to use LATCH to install a carseat, you can use the seatbelt also. But in some cars, the middle is not recommended, so just make sure it's ok for your particular car.

Same here. Surprised me, considering I have an SUV. DD was 28" when we moved her (at 9 months). She'll stay RF until she's 2.

Exactly this!!! Your car manual should have a section about carseats and where the recommended placement of them is. I would absolutely not have DC forward facing at that young of an age.
