No sign of a baby at 5wks 6days

i am currently 5weeks 6 days went to the Ob this evening as an emergency visit after i experienced some light bleeding .. a sono was performed and all they were able to see the sac but no baby .. im scheduled to go back next week to see if they can see the baby .. if not it may be an ectopic pregnancy ... im devastated as i finally got a positive for pregnancy after 8 years of trying ... please tell me if anyone else has experienced this

Where did they see a sac?? 5wk6d is still early to see anything but a sac... sometimes you'll see a pole. Plus, you may be earlier than what your LMP calculates.

they saw the sac in the normal place .. no pole ... and i couldnt have miscalculated as my other half is station in texas and we were together from the 2nd to the 5th ... im just a mess right now but thank you

if they saw a sac then the implantation occurred in the uterus and not the tubes, thus not ectopic. Unless I'm missing something.

5 weeks 6 days is still a bit early. you aren't out until you are out. give it another week. i've seen crazier things happen with pregnancies. you might still be fine... keep hope alive.

We didn't see much more than a sac at 5w4d. If you look in my album it's a sec and a super small white dot at the bottom left of the sac which the dr said was a yolk sac. Did your sono look like mine at 5weeks? Its still early! I hope everything works out What about your bloodwork?

I only saw a sac at 5 weeks. Didn't see the baby until about a were later. I think there's still hope.

Are they doing beta levels? If not, ask them to start so you can keep checking them and see how they are in series and compare them (ie are they going up or down or at a plateau)?

My first pregnancy was mistakenly called a miscarriage because the dating of it was off by more than a week. My AF was never regular and they couldn't accurately predict my O date, so it wasn't until a few weeks later, several rising beta test results, and another sono that they determined my EDD was off by more than 10 days. That "miscarriage" is now almost 4yo.

At 5 weeks all I had was a sac as well.

Sorry to crash.. I had a sono at few weeks ago at 5wk6d (after fertility treatments, so I knew exactly to the day how far along I was).


All they could see at that point was a sac! I was upset too.. I went home and googled blighted ovums and really drove myself nuts!!

Well, I had some bleeding so 2 days later I went in for a sono and there was a heartbeat!! A day or two can make a HUGE different!!

I'm not sure if you know my story or not .. but I did have a loss. However, this was not at all related to that issue! I have clotting issues and prone to blood clots in my uterus that tear through the sac.

Good luck at your next sono! You have every reason to be hopeful here, it's still early!! Also, if the sac was in the uterus, I don't see how they could see it could be ectopic!

Same here as with the other posters... I had a u/s at 6wks and all they saw was a sac and nothing else. We thought I was further along at that point, so we were upset and a bit worried... we went back exactly a week later and there was a heart beat.

Thank you all for your well wishes .. im trying to remain positive yet its hard .. i try to keep myself occupied yet at times i cant help but let the tears flow .. i have a follow up sono on thursday 1/5/12 i will keep you all posted

I had no pole or heartbeat at 5w6d. Just a sac and a tiny tiny white dot which was the yolk sac. Hang in there, you aren't out yet

Hang in there! I had just a sac at 5 weeks 3 days. A week later we had a heartbeat. We're pulling for you!

I had same exact experience at same exact time. I was exactly 5w6d with my calculation and all they saw was the sac too. They made me wait a week and it was the longest most awful week ever. But 7 days later our peanut was there. Try not to stress too much. It could just be a matter of your ovulation dates being off.

If the sac was in the uterus it isn't an etopic pregnancy. 5w6days is early. Many for you.

Like the others said, it can't be ectopic if there is a sac in the uterus.

And 5w6d is very early! Just because you know when you had sex doesn't mean you know when you ovulated (sperm can survive for up to 5 days inside you) and if you implanted late that could make a huge difference as well. Even 1 day off makes such a HUGE difference at this early stage. Good luck, try to be positive! Keeping you in my prayers
