Re: hospital bag - which maxi pads?

I just had a c section a week ago at LIJ and I wish I would have read this before. They gave us this mesh underwear with a folded up wee wee pad that pets use and on top of that they gave us 2 huge maxi pads. I was not prepared at all for all this. It was uncomfortable but necessary for the first few hours after my section. I did come home and buy some pads on Amazon maxi overnight extra heavy flow with wings which are amazing however after a week I don't really need such a big pad. They are really long, the size of 2 of the pads at I was using at LIJ and thin. I totally recommend bringing some of them to the hospital.

I used theirs at the hospital and bought Always overnights when I ran out.

Same here and I had two c-sections. If the flow was really heavy, I would sometimes double up.

Always Infinity Overnights...they are thin with wings and super obsorbant!
In the beginning though I layered them OVER the ones from the hospital...you bleed like a PIG for weeks on end....it's disgusting!

None!!!! They give you TONS of them!

This!!

This too! My doc said I should get Depends. Left 'em in my car & just used the hospital's fishnet undies w/ a chuck & 2 hospital pads the whole time. With each nurse change, I asked for more of each. Had more than enough for 2 weeks after I got home, but in reality, I could've switched to regular pads within a week.

I thought the hospital pads were terrible! I'm so glad I brought my own with me so I didn't feel like I was wearing a diaper! I brought Always Infinity Overnights.

Agreed! I find those hospital pads to be so nasty!!!! I need Always with dryweave and I found the overnights to be perfect.

My second baby I stopped bleeding after a week or so. I think it took like 3 or 4 weeks with my first... Hoping the third is more like the second.
