Tell me about transitioning from a crib to bed

DD got a big girl bed from MIL for Christmas. We are debating if we should switch her now or wait. She is not climbing out of her crib and hasn’t even tried.

your DD is august 2009? shes 2 months older than my DS and i dont plan on switching him anytime soon. he doesnt try to climb out. i plan to leave him in there as long as possible. if you dont think she's ready, just leave the bed in the box and take it out when shes ready.

I'd leave her as long as possible. DD turned 2 in August and was jumping out of her crib even before that so we had no choice. She's been cming into our bed ever since in the middle of the night.

DS is 16 months and we are switching him in 3 weeks, well starting the transition then. I am due at the end of March and didn't want to buy a second crib since DS hasn't slept one night in it Chat Icon We tried CIO, putting him down when he is sleeping, staying in there with him, EVERYTHING under the sun and nothing worked. We ordered a big boy bedroom set for him and will arrive in 3 weeks, 2 months before I am due, giving me plenty of time to HOPEFULLY transition him from our room to his new bed. I PRAY this works out and have def learned my lesson and will be putting DS#2 in the crib from day 1.

I want DD in that crib as long as humanly possible.
Why deal with her getting out of bed and walking around?
The crib is the one place left that I can still truly confine her.
I would keep her in it until college if I could! Chat Icon

Ann went to a toddler bed in March (she was 21 months). She never climbed out of the crib and since she's been in the bed, she's never gotten out of it once it's nap/bedtime.

Re: Tell me about transitioning from a crib to bed

both my kids were in twin beds early.. for us it was because they hated the crib and slept so much better in the beds. DS was 13 months and DD was 8 months old.

for us the transition was super easy because its all they really knew/know.

i feel the earlier the easier the transition
