Insurance Experts- come on in!

I am on the cusp of receiving a job offer, and was given the benefits outline, and paperwork while the results of my drug test come back.

I was looking over what exactly is included within the benefits, and noticed they do offer infertility treatment insurance. Below is what is included

now when it says it offers $10,000 lifetime maximum, is that including IVF, or just the basic IUIs? I'm confused because they section labeld IVF is left blank.

Obviously, I don't want to question this to my new employer yet, and I haven't even started yet, but I was hoping someone could decipher this for me

I *think* that IVF/IUI would be covered under the $10K maximum. The way I understand it - there is nothing listed under the IVF section because there is no copay for those procedures and it's just included in the maximum.

Good luck and congrats on the job offer!

I would think that you have a 10K lifetime max no matter what the proceedure is (IVF, IUI) and then a separate 15K for drugs.

I think you need to be very careful with this one, it looks like infertility 'treatment', is covred but IVF is blank, my guess is that cover blood work, sono's and any testing to come up with why you have infertility but I would not assume the IVF surgery costs would be included...most plans these days dont cover IVF or meds...just testing..good luck!

I'd tend to agree with this. Most insurance plans do not cover IVF because it's so expensive.

This happened to me also. I called the insurance company directly (in my case it was Oxford) and explained the situation. Read to them what my employer covered and asked them what it meant. They looked up my employer and explained to me what was covered. Never even went through HR cause I didn't want them to know either.

It really depends on the insurance and who is your employer. Are you at liberty to share your employer? Perhaps someone has the same one if its a large one and can give you insight?

For us, IUIs did not count towards the lifetime maximum but IVFs did. In fact our employer is increasing it from 10k in 2011 to 15k in 2011. If you have a drug benefit, it is also good to know what is the lifetime maximum on injectibles - mine was 15k.
