Update - Beta # 4
Dr. Brenner called w/ beta # 3 results from this morning. My beta went from 26.6 to 142 (from Friday to Monday). However, I am 18dpt (21dpo) and my levels are NOT where they should be. Dr. Brenner said he is not optimistic and does not think this is a viable pregnancy. Have to go in on Wednesday morning for beta # 4 and have a sonogram on Thursday (I will be 5w3d) to make sure that it's not eptopic. I am so upset that this whole thing is being dragged out and that I have to go through this and most likely m/c. Has anyone been in a similar situation? 
Had beta # 4 today  and my levels went from 142 to 276 (pretty much doubling). I am now 20dp3dt. Dr. Brenner is not happy with the numbers being so low, but isn't really sure why they are continuing to increase considering they started out at 7.82. I have to go tomorrow for a sono to rule out an ectopic and see what is going on. He said it might still be too early to see anything (besides an ectopic) sot the wait might continue. I am beside myself not knowing what to think. Dr. Brenner keeps stressing that he does NOT think this is a viable pregnancy but there is a VERY slight chance this is a late implanter (Uhm, VERY LATE!) and that's why my levels are low, but he has NOT seen this with any of his patients. How do I get through the next twenty four hours?

It's not a horrible number. Check some other #'s here: http://www.betabase.info/showBasicChart.php?type=Single.

Thanks for the link. Dr. Brenner made it sound like there was NO hope and after Thursday's sonogram we would decide what we should do (continue meds, etc.). I am soo incredibly upset I have to wait this thing out when I know it's not likely to have a good outcome

How many embies did you implant? Another IVF girl, had low betas, then dropping, then rising, but turns out it was a vanishing twin situation. I hope this is it, or just a lazy little embie that took long to implant.

I agree. I mean, he's the doctor who has the experience, but to me, those numbers dont look THAT bad. Im praying that it's good news tomorrow! You'll get through it!

Oh boy...gonna be a hard next 24 hours and I'm sorry to say you may not get answer tomorrow either. Your stress level must be thru the roof, just thinking of you and where you are causes me to stress for you.
Usually etopics (if I remember right) have crazy high numbers and they just stay where they are with only slight ups n downs.

I completely agree. If they weren't doubling, I'd be much more concerned. I know how much beta hell sucks, so I really feel for you.

I hope you get positive news tomorrow. If you think about it you've gotten them this far right?! Doubling is still a good sign no matter how low the numbers. Maybe Dr.B is being extra cautious as not to get your hopes up but I hope you can stay optimistic. Maybe this will be his first case of a super late impanter! How awesome would that be. Please don't give up. I shelled out another $30 for digital ovulation stix and tampons today. My optimism is DONE for this cycle but yours doesn't have to be. Please stay positive. Wishing you the best tomorrow
