Re: Sleep sac and cold hands

You can try those little scratch mittens that are normally used when they are babies.

I remember having this same issue and the doctor told me it was fine, it's just because they aren't moving their limbs while they sleep.Chat Icon

eta: My kids still wake up with cold hands.

I used to put mittens on DD until she was 4 months. Now DD just wakes up with cold hands but it doesn't seem to bother her.

I was just talking about this with DH last night. DS is 1 and we either put him in a sleep sack or put a knit blanket over him (a very holey one). I was wondering when they learn to put their hands under the blanket?

Re: Sleep sac and cold hands

My DD ALWAYS has cold hands. Especially in the morning when she wakes up. I don't want to put anything on her hands though bc she sucks her little fingers and I don't have the heart to take that away from her since it is her way of self soothing. I noticed that even her feet are cold after being in a footie and a sleep sack, so I started putting socks on underneath as well.

Honestly, I think it bothers us mommies more than it bothers them.Chat Icon

Yep, DD never wore them when she used a sleep sack and her room was always on the bit chilly side

I asked my ped about this and he said that the body directs the blood to the vital organs, leaving the hands and feet cold because they don't need the blood. He said it's usually the worst while they are sleeping. Told me there was nothing to worry about so I let it go.

Re: Sleep sac and cold hands

When DS was 2-3 months old I would put his socks on his hands, but my ped said it is ok for them to have cold hands.
