Am I the only one who questions their ability to be a mother?

I was watching my goddaughter on Monday and she was so great the whole day.

She is 5 months old and teething. We had a great day, she was calm the whole time, until the last hour when she turned into a complete PSYCHO!!!!!!!!! I was getting so impatient to have her get picked up and then I found myself thinking, when the kid is mine, it isn't getting picked up! I had ZERO patience left at the end...

Am I the only one? lol I was worried and DH thinks I'm crazy. Hes like, she was exhausted, and wouldn't go to sleep because you didn't have a bottle or anything for her (she went through the 2 I was given).

I actually posted something similar today as well, about wondering if I will have a good maternal instinct, and it was mostly because I babysat my SIL's boys, ages 2 & 4, and they were so BAD! Chat Icon I couldn't believe how much they would NOT listen to me and were just plain being rude and misbehaving. After they left I told DH that I was seriously considering putting off TTC for a little while because I was kind of traumatized! Chat Icon My hope though is that they were only like that because even at their young ages they know there's really no consequence with me if they're bad. I also had no toys or anything to entertain them with since it was a last-minute situation in which I ended up watching them. But after they left, I was just like how will I ever deal with something like that all day everyday? I have to give credit to all the mom's out there!

I have no doubt in my mind that you're going to be an AMAZING mom! When its yours, its totally different...I'm sure you did great and I'm sure she was tired and STARVING!

When its your own, its completely different. Its like this switch turns on in your head and you become so patient (for the most part).

its sooo different when its your own baby.. also, the end of the day is tough for everyone. baby gets tired, mommy is tired - bedtime is a much needed break!!

Everyone looses their patience some times... I think it's natural, expecially when they aren't yours. And you will get used to it. I think you will be fine! No need to question your ability!!!Chat Icon
