Playset for Boys (2-3) - FP Construction Set, LT Construction Set, GeoTrax Set or Imaginext Set?

DS will be 2 1/2 at Christmas and I wanted to get him some type of playset to move on from Little People.

He flocks to big kid play sets at anyone's house. Loves doll houses, fire houses and can do imaginative "scenes" for a while. He's seen Cars movie probably twice and he has a set of some of the cars (just cars) and Mac the trailer and he can play with them and rattle off lines from the movie for hours.

Does anyone recommend any of these sets? He's not into Thomas the Train. Loves cars, construction, fire trucks, town, and getting into superheros.

GeoTrax Playset - They have Superheros, Cars, basic, etc.


Imaginext Set - They have a few sets too.


If you have any of these, which does DC like/not like. Easy to store, set up, build onto.

I have a little bit of million pieces anxiety so I'm not ready for tons of little parts!! But I think he's ready to move on to something like this.

I have a 6 year old who I bought the geotrax for when he was 2 and he still plays with it. My other DS now 2 also loves to play with it. You can rebuild the tracks and use the remotes, the kids love it.

My son is VERY into firetrucks/men/anything and we have had the firehouse since Christmas (he was 2). DS plays with that EVERY day! It did have A LOT of LITTLE pieces and my husband threw them out when he saw DS put something in his mouth! However, he still plays with it all the time. I am a very big fan of the imaginext things. I think they are very well made and the kids love it! He also played with a cars geotrax thing at a friends house that we will prob get him for the holidays that he loved.

ETA: DS is not very into movies/cartoons so I try to shy away from that stuff. However he is getting into the superheroes!

FYI this week (to Saturday) Toysrus is having a buy two get one free deal on these toys.

We have the Imaginext firehouse and the rocket ship. Both are played with by my 4 and 2 year old children. I really love the quality of these sets.

We also have the geotrax starter set and that is one of DSs absolute favorite toys. He is 4. He is going to get some more geotrax for Hanukkah. The only problem with the geotrax is that the train tracks are difficult to put together. It is still a fun toy.

ETA: We too discarded the water that shoots out from the top of the fire house as it was more of a projectile and we really worried someone could get hurt.

We also have the imaginext fire house, and my son loves it. He recieved it for Christmas at 2.5 and it still in heavy play rotation almost a year later.

I agree with the others that imaginext toys are good quality.

My boys really like the imaginext....they have a few...the firehouse, a bat cave, and the toy story one....they are really into figurines though, so thats why they like this...they love football guys, hockey guys, etc, I think thats why these were a big hit.

Just recently, our neighbor gave them a HUGE bin of all the rescue hero guys, and they really like them too. Plus they have a few "houses"

I was planning on getting T the FP construction site.. I don't know if he will understand it at that time but I thought it was cute and he'll get it eventually.

I know lots of kids older than him that when they were two started with the geotrax (of course that someone wonderful bought for them.. lol) and they love it still and they can keep adding different sets onto them.
