PSA: Cord Blood Banking
If anyone is on the fence about banking their baby's cord blood. JUST DO IT!! I am not a regular poster on LIF but I am a long time member and do come on here often and browse through daily posts for inspiration and answers to questions I have that many of you already addressed. I'm 37 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and my husband was just diagnosed with Leukemia. This came as a total shock to our family and he is currently in the hospital for treatment and will miss the birth of our 2nd baby boy  The stem cells from the baby's cord blood could potentially help in treating and curing my husband's cancer and that is PRICELESS! I'm kicking myself now for not banking DS #1's cord blood. I'm going through Life Line Cryogenics and it is actually cheaper than what we spent on the baby's furniture.

UPDATE: Thank you all for the  and  A little piece of good news is that both hospitals are set up for Skype so DH will NOT miss the birth after all. I will be at Winthrop and DH is at LIJ Manhasset. Both hospitals are bending over backwards and are so accommodating. and if skype fails for any reasons we have FaceTime on our iphones to fall back on.

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I will be praying for all of you
We are also doing private cord blood banking. Someone we know had a baby recently with a brain defect and the Drs are actually going to try using the cord blood retrieved when she was born to help with her brain development.

Tons of hugs We are pro-cord blood banking too. Had my mom lived a little longer DS's collection could probably have helped her.
We are also banking DC #2. ETA: we use CBR for DS and obviously going to bank #2 with them as well.

I am so sorry to hear about your DH, sending many prayers your way DH and I were discussing cord blood, we will most likely do it and it's all because of stories like this. I need to start looking into options.

Thank goodness you have the option to do it now! for your family and your DH.
We banked DC2 and will with this one too, so everyone is covered.
