I agree that it depends on your intentions and expectations as well. Unfortunately there is a flipside that you might do this and your kindness mght be ignored.
Just for your only feelings, make sure that whatever you chose to do, you are also prepared for the outcome, be it good, bad, or nothing at all.

We were friends for 4 1/2 years before our issues with each other which were mostly social caught up with us. We got into an argument and said some things that we meant, but shouldn't have said.(You know, all those little things that bother you, but you keep to yourself.) And we or at least I was too proud and embarrassed to call. And time just lapsed and before I knew it 3 years were gone.
I would like to renew the friendship again, maybe not to the extent that it was before, but I want to at least be friendly with her again.
