OMG I'm hysterically crying. Thank god everything is okay, how traumatic for him to go through that. Are you ready to tell your DS? He is old enough to understand IMO...My niece is only 6 and understands everything that happened with her uncle that day

EVERY year your story gets me. Thenlump from the first sentence is in my throat. I tell your story to my family, and cant even get through it without us all crying. Gets me every time.

Thank you for posting your experience. It brought tears to my eyes. I don't think anyone will forget. I remember everything that day just like how my grandma would talk about Pearl Harbor and my grandpa having to go there.

such a truly touching story. i can't believe you wrote about us not reading it.. i couldn't stop reading it. i had to see the outcome.

such a crazy day in history. it's just immeasurable to anything else.

I'm from glendale as well.

my old BF was a firefighter in the city at the time... and he was missing for a good while, thankfully he turned up alive. i was worried. His brother was fdny ems and his "bus" was used as a morgue vehicle. he was finding parts of his friends bodies (while searching for his missing brother). so so so sad.

and PS - I can't believe that an unborn baby from then is now 9 and a half years old!! it's insane how much time has gone by to me.

This is the first time I read your story. As I feed my newborn, I am in complete tears reading this. Your family is truly blessed. Only you will know if your son is mature enough to read your story.

I always come to try and find your story. I just read it again and cried. It's weird..but reading your story helps me feel somewhat better around this time.

I think you should definitely share that with your son. I dont have a child that age, but I think it's powerful and something he should know and you know if your son can handle it.

Best of luck in telling your son - although only 9 1/2 he can probably handle more than you think and will always remember your story. Some of my students said they were upset that their parents never told them what had happened that day so I think you are doing the right thing.

I had tears in my eyes reading this! God bless you and your family!! My sister's daughter is 9 years old this year..and I remember going to her house that night she didn't want me to be alone that night she was pregnantand I wasn't married yet! My parents were coming home from a trip and we were nervous because we didn't hear from them at first than they called and walked through my sisters door at1 am that morning! Now if my sister decides to tell her that is up to her..Again your story was very moving I cried reading it!
