BJs v Costco?

I have been a Costco member for years but lately I am not that into it anymore. How does BJ's differ? Better, worse in your opinion?

TIA!

I like BJs a little better. They take coupons, the accept more methods of payment and they are closer to my house. As far as products & prices, I find them comparable. It's been a while, but I remember being impressed with certain kirkland (costco's brand) items.

Re: BJs v Costco?

I like Costco better, they have better prices and more of a selection on things we need.

We had thought about switching this past summer, so we went to a BJ's to check it out. We weren't impressed.

I'm a BJs fan....I can use a BJs coupon and a manufacturer coupon for the same item at the same time.

They are close by, have convenient hours, ready stock on all food and non-perishable items.

I use to have a Costco membership but then switched 3 years ago to BJ's when my DD was born because they had WAY more of all he baby stuff we needed at the time................Huggies wipes, Pampers, Enfamil, etc. I find their selection and prices to be very good, basically the same as Costco and their store brand is also good. I am happy there!..............plus like others said, I like that they take coupons and other methods of payment. Chat Icon

Re: BJs v Costco?

This is what I like about BJ's

Express lines - no standing behind people with cartloads of stuff when you only have a few items

Self check out

I remember Costco used to only take Amex- not sure if that's still the same- but BJ's takes all credit cards

Better selection for sure!

1/2 price cards and stationery.

They accept manufactuer's coupons

I like both but for different things. I would say if you are thinking of doing one OR the other. I would go to both and walk around and look to see what you prefer.

BJs takes coupons which is nice and they have a few everyday items that Costco does not have. But for us - I actually greatly prefer the clothes at Costco (they have hanna anderson leggings, lilly pulizer/hartstrings etc dresses). While I rarely buy clothing there - sometimes they have a cute item or two. I don't like anything clothes wise I have seen at BJs. I loved the kirkland baby wipes. Before DD#1's food allergies I liked BJs cakes better.

BJ's has gas. I was there today, it was $3.77 a gallon. Best price I have seen by far.
