How far along were you when you were diagnosed and put on a special diet?
I took my 3 hour 2 weeks ago and just found out last night I failed it.
I am about 32 weeks along. I am nervous that it seems late to be put on this diet.

Re: Girls with GD

the baby puts on the most weight at the end anyway so i think a change in diet can still be beneficial

ETA: be happy you have to do the lame diet for less time Chat Icon

Thank you. I just felt like it was kind of late in the game but some of that was the fault of my dr's office. They had the test results for 2 weeks but waited until my next dr's visit to let me know.

Re: Girls with GD

I was diagnosed at 28 weeks and had to take insulin nightly. It's worth it to stick to the diet, better for the baby, better for you (lost all my baby weight and then some very quickly as a result). Chat Icon

I was diagnosed and put on diet w/ DC #1 around 30 weeks. I was very serious about diet, and b/c I was retaining so much water, I didnt realize I was loosing body fat, and wound up -20 lbs thinner from when we conceived 4 weeks PP!

Its never too late!

Re: Girls with GD

any diet will help...and exercise especially. As a dietitian it was easy for me to know what to do..but it was hard...very hard. I was lucky that I didn't need insulin, but I watched my carbs, and exercised everyday for at least a 30 min. (usually walking outside or on treadmill)
