Anyone know if they have any adult only cruises?
I am looking to surprise my husband for his 40th birthday in Oct. Thinking about the Caribbean.I have never been on a cruise and just starting to look into it. I just don't want to pick a ship that turns out to be predominantly family oriented. Looking to relax and away from screaming kids.

TIA! Chat Icon

Re: Cruise lines

My DH and I are childfree and we go on Princess cruises. They are not just adults but they dont cater to families as much as other cruise line so they tend to not attract them as much.
We have also found that if we go at times where the kids are in school, avoiding break time, there tends to be less families on board.

I know that the 3 cruises we have done, there have been children on board but we have never experienced any problems with them. Mostly they were in the childs group play area.

Re: Cruise lines

Royal Carribean out of NJ has a separate adults only pool area, main pool area, and then a kiddie pool area (at least that was Explorer of the Seas). We never had a problem with the kids being too annoying. We've gone twice to Bermuda by ourselves (going again this summer Chat Icon ) and once when we had a young one we did their 9-day Carribean trip. The separation was pretty good.

Re: Cruise lines

We've always crusied with Norwegian Cruise Lines. Of course, there will always be kids on it, but we usually go in May, right before school gets out or September/October right when school starts again. There's usually a LOT less kids than normal then.

ETA: And these leave out of NY.

Re: Cruise lines

As long as you book when schools are not in session, you won't have many kids on the boat. I have done 5 cruises with NCL and really like it. We usually book a suite and enjoy all of the perks that they come with. I have heard their new ship, EPIC has spa suites, which are geared towards couples. If you book during breaks ( xmas, president's week or easter break) you may have 1/4 passengers kids! And there are so many adult only areas, it won' be a problem, spa, bars, shows, casinos, etc. Have Fun!

Celebrity is mostly adults and a bit more 'upscale' in the mass market line genre.

Re: Cruise lines

There aren't really adult cruises in the Mass market lines - Your best bet would be something like Celebrity, Princess or Holland American DURING school sessions - AND on Longer cruises. Families tend to travel on school breaks - but the Caribbean is a pretty family oriented destination - but families tend to cruise less on the 9 and 10 day cruises than on a 7 day one as well. Celebrity for example can have 400+ kids during summer or holiday breaks BUT might only have 10-20 other times if that.

Keep in mind if you want a lot of night life you might not find as much as those lines also cater to an older crowds.

what about going to one of those adult resorts on an island instead. that is probably your best bet
