No caffeine

I am having a hard time with the No caffeine rule! I feel like theres nothing to drink! I loved iced tea and soda. What else does everyone drink? I can only drink so much water.

Also, isnt there caffeine in chocolate? My friend is 8 months pregnant and she eats so much sweets and chocolate. I though you're supposed to limit it to 12oz a day.

Re: No caffeine

I never followed a no caffine rule. My Dr advised 1-2 cups of coffee is fine! Under 200 mg of caffine is allowed. Ive been drinking cofffee- 1-2 cups this entire pregnancy and everything is fine. Same with my DD. Have your soda or ice tea. One a day is ok!

ETA
I also drink
Lemonade
Seltzer
Root Beer and orange soda ( most dont have caffine)
A lot of juice
Lots of milk
Decaf tea ( you can make decaf ice tea)

Re: No caffeine

i have cut out caffeine completely except for chocolate. There isn't a ton of caffeine in chocolate and since I don't have any other caffeine I figure it is fine.

I mostly drink water, but also drink vitamin water zero a lot (no caffeine, no cals, no artificial sweetners). Aside from that, I sometimes have a glass of sprite or rootbeer to satisfy my soda cravings.

Re: No caffeine

I agree with the PP. 200mg or less a day is fine. Im 7 weeks pregnant and I finally said screw it to the "no caffeine rule" I just cant take it anymore. I do have some chocolate once in a while and after 7 weeks I had my first cup of coffee. Yum. I think if its in moderation you'll be fine.

I don't drink coffee often (maybe a cup a month) but I do remember my Doctor saying one small cup a day is more than fine. Chat Icon

Re: No caffeine

Like others have said, up to 200 mg a day is perfectly fine. That's the equivalent of 2 cups of coffee. If you are a real soda fiend (I definitely go through my phases like that!), try some caffeine free sodas like root beer, cream soda, some orange sodas, grape soda, sprite, caffeine free coke, etc. HTH!

Re: No caffeine

If i need caffeine, I will have a small coffee or iced tea.

Otherwise, I make my own decaf unsweetened iced tea at home and add lemon juice.

I drink water mostly or seltzer and I allow myself the occaisional lemonade, apple juice, cranberry juice (which is AWESOME when mixd with seltzer), ginger ale, etc.

Re: No caffeine

I don't follow the no caffeine rule but I do limit it.

If I'm bored with water, I will do SOBE life waters, Vitamin Waters, decaf flavored teas, seltzer or I'll add cucumber, watermelon or lemon to water to jazz it up.

I drink one big cup a day. Me and the no caffeine rule won't work well.

Besides that, I have been sticking to water.

My doctor told me 2 cups a day max is all I can have. Yes, chocolate has caffeine. I have decaf and allow myself myself a few minis of chocolate (no more than 4) a day, but I also have a huge sweet tooth!

There is no "no caffeine rule." You can have up to 200 mg of caffeine a day. That's 2 cups of coffee you brew at home / 1 cup at Starbucks. It's also 4 bottles of Snapple, 5 cans of Pepsi, or like 2 POUNDS of milk chocolate. There's a ton you can eat or drink without feeling guilty.

Re: No caffeine

Tropicana makes raspberry lemonade- it's called Trop50- less sugar/calories and no artificial sugars and it's delicious. Also, Trader Joes makes delicious lemonades that aren't made with artificial sweeteners. Turkey Hill also sells Decaf Iced Tea (pretty delicious).

Re: No caffeine

my dr is super strict with a lot of stuff and he said 1 serving is ok per day.

and you said your having a coke in the am? so you are getting some caffeine. is it that your going through withdrawls from not having enough of it?
