from what i understand not a lot of hosipitals rent breast pumps. They have some there you can use but if you want to rent one for home you have to go to like babies r us or pharmicies

ETA - I cant remeber the exact proce of them but it was relativley Chat Icon depending on how long you want it for

Call your insurance and see if it can be covered

I rented one from babies r us. A hospital grade medela it was $80 and month. I think the price at good sam was pretty much the same, they just didn't have any.

eta: I agree call your insurance company. I didn't do this because my babies were early and in the NICU and I needed a pump ASAP but I have heard of them covering it.

The hospital doesn't rent them (at least NSUH doesn't) but provided me with a list of places that do. I called a few that were local to find the best price and rented the medela symphony (same one I had in the hospital) for $70 a month

Re: anyone rent a breast pump from the hospital? How much?

i just rented one from LIJ. i rented the medella symphony. i already have the medella freestyle but because my Chat Icon is a preemie in the NICU i needed to be able to start and maintain a milk supply almost exclusively through pumping. the symphony is a lot better suited for this than the freestyle (which will be fine once i have a supply and go back to work).

anyway it was a $200 deposit that i get back when i return the unit, and $80 for the first month and $70 each additional. they also do a package of 3 months for $200.

i tried to get it covered by my insurance but even with an r/x and a letter of medical necessity it doesnt look like thats going to happen. also LIJ's rentals do not take insurance so i wouldve had to wait for it to process and since im already behind on pumping as it is, i figured $80 isnt that crazy to just spend out of pocket rather than have to wait precious days for insurance to figure it out.

It costs around $75-$80 a month and they are great! You'll feel like an industrial cow being milked Chat Icon No, seriously, they are amazing and in my opinion are well worth the $$.
