Am I the only one

that refuses to buy a Nook or Kindle? I love to read, and DH and my parents offer to get me one for every holiday. I always say no.

I like books. I like the way they feel, smell, sound. I feel like reading on a computer-like screen is going to be completely different.

Am I the last holdout?

No, a lot of people feel the same way as you. An e-reader is a strange concept until you have one. I felt the same way as you, I'd rather have the book but now when I can't get a book on my nook I throw a hissy fit that I have to go and get a real book.

I know a lot of people that dont like it...

I felt the same way too but ive been exposed to so many more books with the nook than i was before so and i realized that having a physical book means absolutely nothing to me...

Re: Am I the only one

DW has a Nook, but she still reads more paper books than e-books. For her, they both have their place, and neither one replaces the other, they just supplement each other.

Nope, you're not alone! DH was all set to get it for me for Christmas but I said I didn't want it. Though it is so much cheaper on the Nook/Kindle!

I like to read books. Plus I like to read on the beach and to take lots of books on vacation. If I lost a book or it rained on the beach it is a lot easier to replace than that nook/kindle. I get all my books from the library anyway so I don't pay for books.

I wish I had read this post! I just posted a similar situation.

I kind of want one, but I don't think it's "me".

Exactly this. the "Steal N Deals" section of my Nook exposes me to books I never would have picked up, and I can download books from the library too.

It hought that too but I have to say my kindle REALLY feels like a book. Hard to explain, but even the screen doesnt resemble a computer screen at all.

In fact the other day twice I went to turn the page!!!Chat Icon

I really don't want one either, just don't have any desire for it... I don't even have an Ipod yet haha, and I was the last of everyone I know to get a cell phone. Guess I'm not big on technology.

I am also holing out. I don't read enough to justify the cost. I get my books from the library so they cost me nothing.

I agree, I held off getting a nook for awhile now I don't ever want to be without it. I was sold on it after a read my first chapter on it.

No, I another holdout! I have no desire for one. To me , nothing beats reading a physical book. I need to hold a book, turn the pages, smell the paper, take it in the tub with me, lol! I am very possessive of my books also.

I refuse to get one. I like to go to the library, search through the stacks and leave with a bag full of books.

Re: Am I the only one

Im another holdout. I have no desire to get one. I do think that it is good when going on vacation but still I love books, the smell the feel. I love going to Barnes and Noble and going on Amazon to buy books. There is nothing like getting a delivery of books or looking at all the books I have and trying to decide which one I want to read.
